My first time dining here. I walked in and sat on a bench waiting for my friend, no one asked if i needed to be seated or anything. I went to the cashier and asked should i just sit anywhere? She apologized and got me a waiter. He was attentive and friendly, gave his opinions and suggestions which was helpful. Ordered salmon croquettes, Mac n cheese, peas and yams. It came hot and portion size was ok. It was on the bland side for my taste but tasted fresh. I have wanted to eat here for a long time but they are only open for lunch. Today was my lucky day. The food and service are very southern. I tried all the vegetables and the peach cobbler. Food was delicious. It's mostly local people ordering and eating here which is comforting. They charged extra for cards so bring cash .

I was really excited to try this place. Being from the south we love southern cooking but this is just OK. The service was fine but I felt like the meals were overpriced for what you received . The portions were small and while everything tasted decent it wasn't anything to write home about. We had the chicken and dumplings and vegetables soup which were small portions and I don't even eat a lot. So overall just OK for southern home cooked food but we probably won't go back. I've been to many other home southern style cooking establishments that serve larger portions

If you want some homemade flavor with local flare, we recommend this place. It was our first visit...we'd heard it was good and it is! My wife had the Sherry Chicken (almost a keto dish) with turnips and M&C. I went for the larger portion with 3 sides - had the Meatloaf with turnips, mashed potatoes and speckled beans. We both had corn bread. Everything was outstanding...delicious! We had a little room left, so we split a strawberry cobbler with ice cream...best strawberry cobbler I've ever had! The meal was a bit pricey, but in today's times...it was fair for the portion served. We arrived right at noon on a Wednesday...the place is not too large and it was already pretty full. We were seated in less than 5 minutes. If you are in LaGrange, GA around lunchtime, give it a try...you will not regret it!
Southern style prepared food, simple and always good. Never tough to eat. Comes out soon after ordering. Pleasant and friendly staff. Neat environment, was an old church.
