Always a great experience. Welcoming atmosphere, fresh locally sourced and seasonal menu. The owners, Jay and Stacey are down to earth and very knowledgeable about the extensive list of wines they offer. We love to sit at the bar for craft cocktails or a glass of wine…or two😜 And the trout dip! Yum!
Sophia and Bill at the bar, are great! Katie my server terrific. Food great and very friendly crowd attracted there. Very ice!
Great service and a clean restaurant. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and very friendly. We all had great food and will be back soon. Nice bar area too
I ordered the daily special, peaches & cream pancakes. The pancakes were brown on the top & burnt on the flip side. I sent them back, requesting only one pancake instead of two. When the pancake arrived it was lighter brown on the top but still very dark (not burnt) on the flip side, clearly not something that you would serve to a customer who had just sent something back !! We paid, left a nice tip for the waitress but because of the food quality & the way it was handled, I doubt we will be back😕.
You'll be so glad you found this place. Great food, very nice atmosphere and excellent service.
The Lucky Hare is an overall fantastic experience. The servers were knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming and very professional. We were never rushed or felt like they just wanted to turn the table. The food was amazing. I started with a grilled peach salad that was more than I expected. My wife started with the Big Wedge salad which she enjoyed immensely. For our main course my wife had the stuffed trout, and I had the pork schnitzel. Both were on point and perfectly prepared and presented. The deserts were decedent. We had the s'mores ice cream and the brownie sundae. We recommend both. We also had martinis which were on point and well balanced. The ambiance is very warm and welcoming and perfect for a date night but still casual. We both highly recommend The Lucky Hare and we will definitely be back.
The six of us all had a wonderful meal. Service by Abby was terrific! She is attentive, friendly and accommodating ~ always a pleasure!,
Service was excellent, and everyone at the table enjoyed what they ordered. We were there for Father's Day Brunch.
The staff are friendly, engaging, and happy to help. The food was excellent, and I highly recommend the crab balls as an appetizer, and the trout as the entree was excellent. And a nice bottle of pinot grigio was the perfect addition!
Visited on our last nite in Big Canoe - 2nd of the week. For our first visit we enjoyed it all - the ambiance, the drinks and the meal. One in our group had the schnitzel the first nite and raved about it. On this night, Thursday 3 of our group ordered it ... sadly, overcooked and dry. 4th had the smash burger and it was delicious. It wasn't the last-supper dinner we hoped for but still enjoyed ourselves. Drinks were good and ambiance to our liking. We would visit again in spite of this mishap.

The mussels were amazing but delivered by themselves- without bread - instead of with the entrees
This was not my first rodeo with Lucky Hare and in general, I love it. Last night was an exception. We ordered an appetizer special: mushrooms and ricotta cheese on toast. It was sinking in cheese and lost all balance of flavor as a result. It was served on once large slice of toast that deserved to have been cut before being served both to improve presentation and accessible consumption. The dish lacked any semblance of seasoning. It wasn't clear what the chef wanted us to experience, which in a way was the evening's theme. I ordered the spring tagliatelle which I have had before and loved. But this dish also lacked balance - the flavors were competing rather than supporting one another. It was loaded with vegetables, true, but the pepita pesto was lost and the shrimp were hard to find. As a result, no one flavor emerged to drive the culinary experience. We tried for the first time the country risotto which suffered the same problem - competing flavors. No clear winner. It may have been an off night for the chef. That can happen. And we will be back. For sure. But last night was a disappointment. EXCEPT for dessert. The chocolate pot de creme is STILL to die for. And the cocktails and wine are reliably first rate and fairly priced. Until next time...
Great Staff and food. The menu keeps changing which is fun! Nice variety of food choices for all tastes!
The stuffed trout was delicious and the peach cobbler dessert was amazing. The server, Abby, was outstanding, which is why we ate there two nights in a row. I highly recommend the Lucky Hare.
We have a weekly date night here and we have enjoyed the smash burger and fries, trout and grits, homemade pasta with shrimp, and mushroom risotto. Service is attentive and friendly. We love having a high quality option just outside the gate!
