Arrived a half hour after they opened and people were inside so that was a great sign that the food was good.

The food smelled so good I started eating before I remembered to take a picture. Lol

Brisket was amazing. I got the fatty cut with okra, and green beans. Everything tasted amazing. The sauce had a kick without being spicy. The brisket melted in my mouth, and the green beans had a smokey flavor that I really enjoyed.

My only warning, the potato salad has ranch in it so if you don't like ranch don't get potato salad.

This place really feels and tastes like good southern BBQ.

Every year, my buddy and I stopped by this place for lunch. On our way from a conference in Savannah, great food. Some of the best barbecue i've had.

Brisket moist: amazing! Burnt ends platter amazing! Stopped here otw to SW FL, I'm so glad I stopped here instead of pizza Hut. I was in a hurry and the food was ready before I finished my cigarette. The two girls at the front counter have a wonderful personality. Very welcoming.
Thank you guys.

So we visited the Vidalia location on Tuesday. We ordered the 2 of the 2 meat combos. Plus a slice of cake, and two sweet teas, and an extra side. I was suppose to get Brunswick stew, Mac and cheese and rice gravy as my sides. My husband got fried okra and fried corn. Well the Mac and cheese was quite terrible. It had a very curdle taste to it. Like it was old. So we exchange it for turnips. Which were awful. They had a sour taste and didn’t look very cooked. The Brunswick stew luke warm and not alot of meat. The rice and gravy you could tell it was old as some of the rice was hard. The gravy was decent. The okra my husband said was good. Corn was not fried. It was just like boiled extra long with some butter through in the bottom. Not even drizzle over the corn. I got ribs and BBQ. The ribs were dry. The BBQ was alright. The sauce wasn’t sweet and when I ask the for she said it was. My husband got smoke chicken and BBQ but original. He said also ate a rib. He said they were dry but not terrible. The chicken and bbq was good. The cake was the best part but at $5 a slice. When deciding on a tip we ask the girl and she said they didn’t serve but they bust the table. So I did add a $8 tip. To the $54 order. The tea was very good. The restaurant was beyond hot. We were the only patrons. As we ate there was flies and several gnats. The girl who took our order wasn’t pleasant. No hi! Nothing .. just seem like we ruined her party by coming in.. we came in about 230. If the food was old by the point she could just recommend we eat elsewhere and try them another day. We went to leave and she give us a look. So my husband dumps and clears our table. But again what was the $8 tips for.. I call the metter store and address these with the manager. She was amazing! She said she would get with owner about a refund or partial refund. That he would call We’d to Thursday. We haven’t heard from him. We definitely didn’t get $54 worth of food nor good service. Service workers at entitle to bad days but you shouldn’t have issues in every part of the order.. also we were standing at the counter to order and the older lady comes over and we the phone and takes the order while we are standing there… then walks away… I was like wow…

Husband and I ordered the pulled pork plate…outstanding food, service!! KD, the waitress, was very attentive…I suggest ordering one plate for 2 people…neither of us could eat all we were given.

It's not the worst BBQ I've ever had, but it certainly wasn't anything special. At least the staff was great and the place was very clean.

Love Papa Buck’s BBQ! Always stop if in Metter or Vidalia. BBQ was wonderful, as usual, but fried okra was off the chain hot and fresh. Collards were good too.

Let me start off by saying we were on the fence between Jomax and Papa Bucks for lunch. Boy are we glad we chose Papa Bucks. The fatty brisket plate was on point, with no sauce needed. The deep fried buttery corn gave my wife heartburn, but it was worth it. The mac n cheese wasn't quite like my Mama's baked mac, but it'll do. Best believe we're coming back for that Pigzilla and the styrafoam jug of sweet tea.

I stopped in around 3pm on a weekday, The place was empty. I ordered a 2 meat plate with 2 sides.

No smell of smoke outside or inside. This is always your first hint to eat somewhere else.

Ribs 3/5
Pulled Pork 2/5
Brunswick Stew 0/5
Baked Beans 2/5
BBQ Sauce 1/5

First impressions were that the food looked good, especially the ribs. So I tried them first. First bite towards the thinner part of the bone was excellent… great seasoning, flavor, texture, and cooked just right. I don’t know what happened in the cooking or holding process, but the thicker end of each rib was far more tough. Barely edible really. I can only guess that they weren’t cooked enough. If these ribs were cooked/held better they could easily get a 5/5 from me.

The pulled pork was dry and mostly flavorless.

The Brunswick Stew didn’t taste anything like any I’ve had in the past… so 1 bite was enough for me.

Baked Beans about as plain as can be. They tasted nearly straight out of the can with some meat added.

The sauce tastes familiar… probably a regional flavor. Not for me.

Additional charges for pickles, jalapenos, onions, etc. no sauce at the table. No napkins at any table.

I can’t imagine how things are much different on any given day that warrant this place a 4.6/5 on google. The food was below average to me.
