This past Saturday(02/03/2024) my family and I had such a terrible experience here. They wont be seeing us again! Horrible customer service! We were not welcomed and automatically sat in the back room when there were plenty open tables in the front. It’s almost like it was their mission to make us so uncomfortable that we would leave, which we did. And to add the cherry on top when we let her, who I assume to be the owner, know we wouldnt be staying her reply was “Perfect”. Very weird. I guess we didn’t fit the description of the kind of customers they were looking for.

Mount Vernon is so fortunate to have such fine Mexican fare. Prices very competitive. Service is always tops no matter who serves. Owner is on top of all that happens here....very visible and approachable. Ample chips, hot sauce if you request. Every time food presentation is fantastic. Wether your party is 8 or one....same level of service. Always left feeling good and appreciated.

We were passing through Mt. Vernon recently and decided to give this place a try. It feels like so many Mexican restaurants, basic booths along the walls and tables in the middle. Salsa was good, in fact we like the food here - the cheese dip was okay and the molcajete (which we shared) was quite good. The server asked what we wanted to drink, and we asked for water, which was served in styrofoam cups with ice. Our first small complaint came when we asked for more tortillas. The molcajete comes with three tortillas and they said any more constitutes an order - just under a dollar, but most places will just give them to you. Our second complaint came when we got the bill, our waters were listed as soft drinks and were 95 cents each. I understand that restaurants are allowed to charge you for a cup of tap water, but it is so rare (first time for us) that the server should have mentioned that water was an extra cost. Our car was right out front and we had water we could have brought in. So we came away with two opinions: the food is pretty good, and expect to be nickel and dimed.
