This was our second year in a row eating lunch at the half shell on new years eve day. A pretty neat place to take a lunch break from all of the holiday traffic in Newnan.

Just grabbed some lunch and really wanted to munch on some Coney dogs and chili cheese fries. Unfortunately for me being from Michigan, there are not a lot of options for me to indulge my craving. Thankfully I found the Half Shell! They not only had exactly what I wanted, but the service was very friendly and the resturant was clean and kept. Definitely recommend eating here if you want something good, filling, and low key.

Oysters did not taste fresh as marketed. Seafood and hot dogs do not go together. The owner must not know what they are doing or poor management. Looks like poker gameing is the main thing.

Not a very good seafood location. Crayfish were not seasoned well. Oysters are very small (not Select. Standard at best). They were out of grouper after 5 servings. Red Lobster would have been a better choice.

OMG!! I never order macaroni and cheese at a restaurant because it is always overcooked and it is more like baked cheese with pasta mixed in it. They are macaroni and cheese is fabulous! Not baked cheese and not a watery cheese sauce. It is perfect! I love their new menu with added items.

I originally went to The Half Shell for the oysters. The raw oysters are always fresh. The oysters rockefeller are soooooo good! However, I have hesitated to share this next random item because 1, I am showing my age and 2, I wanted to gatekeep it so they don't sell out! If you have ever had good old fashioned southern tea cakes, you will absolutely love the ones they sell! I think the owner told me it was his Grandmother's recipe and it sure tastes like someones Grandmother is back there making them! At this point, I don't know if I really go there more for the oysters or the tea cakes! I bought 3 or 4 bags of them last week. (There are 2 in each bag.) I just went and bought 6 bags! They are that good!

There were 5 of us that visited and it was early around 430 in the afternoon. Couple tables being served as we went in. 2 of us got the shrimp po-boys and the other 3 got assorted seafood dinners. Everybody loved their meals and everything that can be is made in house. I would recommend anybody to give it a try. Lived in Newnan for 17 years and never went until now. Regret never trying until now. Also, try their banana pudding as well. Simply the best!

The food was really good. But it was dead in there when me & my friend went & it was noon which i was assuming would be alittle busy cause thats the normal time people go to lunch. Only 1 other person was in there. The atmosphere was really wierd. It was so quiet, no music, no nothing. Just silent. Our server (a older man, maybe the owner) just sat at the bar on his computer directly across from us. He only got up to take our order. He yelled from across the restaurant while sitting on his computer and would ask if we needed anything. Very wierd and unprofessional. Atmosphere wasn’t welcoming at all. If it wasnt so hot i woulda ate outside. We were very uncomfortable the whole time & literally had to whisper to talk to eachother, thats how quiet it was. I might go back but i would probably get it to go. The bbq sandwich & fries were good

I’m from Dallas, We have family in Newnan. We love this place. Not fancy, but great food. We try to go here at least twice when we visit. Prices are a great value for what you can get in a big city. Grilled oysters and Cole slaw are delicious. This place is a gem!
