I must say for a place my sister's and I grew up in (Baker County) this place was a disappointment. I ordered chicken tenders and fries, my husband had a fish sandwich and onion rings. Next door used to be Catfish Carol's and OMG!, it was the best in GA. The Catfish Shack seems steep in prices for service that is mediocre friendly and the food not interesting. The tenders were so small they would make a two year old mad. The tenders were smaller than a wing piece, and cooked in old oil; a burnt color and flavor saturated the entirety of the tenders. The fries were small in amount and tasted like the inside of a freezer. My husband was not fond of the fish sandwich except for the crunch and flaky-ness; those were his favorite characteristics. The onion rings were few, and the band width was too thick for the batter. We also took the liberty to order a sweet tea. It was perfectly brewed, iced, and sweetened. For my hometown, this place was disappointing, but shows potential for improvement. Other than sweet tea, my husband and I do not recommend the food.

We were going to try this place out but after reading reviews which are mostly great I was astounded at owners responses to people who criticize anything. Owner comes back and sounds rude no matter what someone says. Sounds like an owner I ran into in Pelham about a year ago. In other words your are great with owner unless you find something wrong then they want to degrade you. I want try it because if my food is not cooked right I will ask about it. The man in Pelham was so rude over fish that were raw. He thought they were cooked to perfection. He cussed me out. Of course he was not in business long. Hope you all the best but I want go because if food I am paying for is not right I think I should be able to ask about it and nit have someone try to degrade me. I know the owner will get on here and most likely be rude as he has been to others. I cannot rate the food but the type responses he gives to others that are negative are uncalled fir.

I tried it for the first time, and all I can say is THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU!! The freshest fish I've had from a restaurant in a long time. You will not be disappointed!! I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants fresh catfish.

Very excellent food ?, service was good and outside dining was great, if you are in Newton Georgia ,and they are open stop and eat there , if you have the time you will not be disappointed, it is well worth the wait . (outside dining only or pick up)
