Was craving a dog and saw this close to my hotel. Simply put banging!!
Had a really weird experience where we came in for dinner and no one was up front. So we waited a few minutes hoping someone would come up, I said hi to a guy in the back washing dishes who then just ignored us? We left because there was no one there to take our order.
Weird vibes.
Great food, friendly service, and a neat atmosphere. Some of the better Chicago food outside of Chicago that I have had.
There isn’t another hotdog spot like this in the city
It was OK food definitely overpriced won’t be back
Great taste felt like I was in Chicago
The Italian beef was so good. They definitely have the best, crispiest onion rings in town. Also, the man behind the counter was welcoming. I highly recommend this restaurant.
We went here a few months back and was excited to have some good italian beefs. Unfortunately the food was quantities were small and were overpriced. Having grown up in chicago a place like this would go out of business.
Theres one guy that’s a little irritated when I came there one time and asked for extra peppers. Not really sure why he was upset but I’ve been coming here daily for a while and it’s awesome. It’s genuinely a taste of Chicago
I had been craving an authentic Chicago Italian Beef Sandwich. I'm not even a beef eater, but I'm a Chicagoan (born and raised). I eat Chicago foods and never miss a chance to grab Portillos when visiting home.
I found Chicago Dog in a Google search. The reviews were solid, so I decided to give it a try.
Turns out, I've driven past it for ages and never realized it was there. However, I won't make that mistake again.
It felt like home. The restaurant was filled with all the bragadocious tchotchkes common in Chicago restaurants. It was spacious and had lots of seating.
I placed a to-go order for an Italian Beef sandwich with sweet and hot peppers, fries, a pizza puff, and sweet tea.
Ah-mazing. The bread, the beef, the peppers, and the gravy—absolutely delectable. The fries. There is something about the fries you get in Chicago that is slightly unique, but noticeable for folks whose taste buds were trained in Chicago. I don't know if it's a specific potato or the oil...but these fries more than hit the mark with just a little salt. The pizza puff is the most authentic I've had from any restaurant outside of Chicago that claims to serve Chicago food. And the sweet tea was a pure Georgia crafted delicacy.
My 8 y/o budding Georgia Peach was uninterested in the food when we were in the restaurant. But the smell of the food on the ride home had her wanting. I shared when we got home. She dug in, loved it, and now wants to go back. We will be back.
This Windy City Peach has found a new nostalgic staple from home.

As a Chicagoan of 30+ years I truly enjoyed my Italian beef with sweet and hot pepper mix. Thumbs up and recommended if you are craving a little bit of the Windy City. I will return again and check out your Vienna beef hot dogs. See you then.
