Me and my girlfriend came for dinner, usually nowadays eating at Stage or H&W, but we decided to go back to J Alexander's as we used to frequently. Our service this time was below par for even a longhorn. Our server was cold and unfriendly and both steaks were well done when we asked for medium rare. The assumed manager Letita came to our table and questioned our decision making skills by belittling us and saying they were all correct but she will make them again for us. We also had to send a drink back as it was not how it usually is (my girlfriend's favorite drink for years), and she even questioned us on that. We will absolutely not be back.

Came here to celebrate my husband's birthday. The steak that we ordered was overcooked. It was far too pricey for the quality of meat that they provide. Also, the burger that we ordered to go ended up having 2 long hairs between the buns.

Our family and party of 5 had dinner here last night. The reservation was set for 7:30. My daughter requested a burger for her birthday dinner from J Alexander’s so we drove to Ptree Corners from Buckhead to make it happen. As we arrived we were greeted and sat at a round table in Patrick’s section. A place card was sat on the table with our party info, server name, and special occasion birthday note.I would consider us to be an easy to accommodate party and while we weren’t expecting Marcel or Chops style food or atmosphere, we did expect decent service.First, it took several minutes for the server to even approach our table for our drink order. As Patrick brought our drinks, no tray was used, leaving fingerprints on the half washed glasses. We ordered two appetizers and five entrees. The appetizer share plates were all visibly dirty, even in dim light. The burger meat had a game-y flavor or just wasn’t fresh. Unlucky for us, we placed an order for an additional burger to-go for a late night snack to share. The prime rib was an unacceptable cut as it was FULL of fat. I was lucky to get 5/6 bites out of it. My dog however, enjoyed it. The French dip and the filet were amazing. Each time the servers brought the next course or refill, they would leave the previous courses empty plates and glasses. They almost tried to sit a new plate on top of an old one. As we looked around there were handfuls of empty tables loaded with dirty plates long after guests had departed. It seems like no emphasis is put on pre bussing the guests table to refresh for the next course. Bummer. The manager did approach our table and ask us how things were. As we said “okay”, he looked at our table, turned around and left. Even after seeing empty plates, empty glasses, and empty drinks galore, we did not see him approach Patrick to follow up with us.Because the server wasn’t sales motivated, we had to ask for a desert menu which consisted of 3 items. We decided against them. My father in law had to ask that the table be cleared for his granddaughter’s birthday before we left, to which Patrick took the plates and cups we had stacked for him. After that request was made Patrick asked if he can bring the complementary birthday dessert instead of just simply paying attention to the place card and bringing it unannounced. As we were leaving for the night, my husband asked the hostess how many covers they had for the night. They had 40 reservations and a little over 200 heads. There is just no excuse other than poor training, poor customer service, and lack of care.Really disappointed in the price we paid for the quality of service and food we received. Wished we would’ve kept our original reservation at Amore e Amore.

The second visit at this location. Our server's name was Jamie (male). After his first visit to our table, we hardly ever saw him again. When we did it was because we had to flag him down. Two of our 4 orders were either wrong or missing items. Asked for the manager but he never showed. Finally asked for check and left. They were not that busy so that was not the excuse. Will not return anytime soon but when we do will make sure we get a different waiter.

I really wanted to love my dining experience but it was just meh. We had a reservation but still had to wait 20 minutes past our reservation time for a table. Not a huge deal. The service was just standard. Just took our order and brought out our drinks and food. No extra pleasantries or anything to constitute great service. And the steak was under cooked. I know that ordering medium well at a steakhouse is a crime but my daughter won’t eat anything bloody and her steak was bright pink, definitely medium at most. The Alex salad was great with just the right amount of dressing. The whole experience was just subpar, not bad but not good either.

The restaurant was nice. Clean, spacious and pleasant, it was a bit too cool in there though. Our waitress was very nice, I don't know if she was new or not but there were some things she did not know about the menu items. Our food came out promptly, presentation was very nice, but the food was barely seasoned. My sister said her steak was cooked well but tasted very bland. My pasta (rattlesnake pasta) was bland as well and was lukewarm. I would not come back to this spot especially not at these prices.

If you’re a fan of Stoney River, I promise you’ll enjoy J. Alexander’s. The interior has a similar vibe, and you can be sure to expect the same quality of service and attentiveness here. All of our food was wonderful. For starters, we had the soup of the day, which was a fabulous chili, and a delicious smoked salmon dip with toast points. The steak was incredibly juicy and was accompanied by a very creamy baked mac and cheese. The fries and smashed potatoes were also delicious. We really enjoyed the pork tenderloin as well. To finish the night, we were treated with one of the most divine chocolate cakes I have ever eaten. It was perfectly fudgy, warm, and rich. The hot cake and richness was perfectly balanced with a side of sweet vanilla ice cream. You won’t regret coming here for a classic American dinner. And do not skip the cake!
