We weren't aware that the only option that evening was a buffet until we checked in for our reservation. There was a very limited amount of food out and the food that was there did not taste good (chicken practically no meat on the drumsticks due to being overcooked). For $55/person we were extremely disappointed.
We looked forward dining here. What a disappointment! Our server was rushed, did not engage and placed an order wrong. It took a long time for replacement and there was no apology given. We cancelled the reservation we'd made for two nights later and dined locally instead. This could be lovely, but it wasn't!
We stayed at the Callaway Resort and had hoped for a nice meal at the Piedmont Dining Room Restaurant of the hotel. The positive first: the food was surprisingly exceptional, way above our expectations, and we also found an exceptional wine on the wine list here, so Kudos to the kitchen team, a 5/5! Our waitress tried her best to provide the best service she could, but the restaurant was clearly understaffed (even though the host desk would not seat people in half of the restaurant, again assume due to staff shortages). As was the case with all open spaces in the hotel, unruly children were roaming the restaurant, it was noisy, bright lights, and had the vibe of a cafeteria at a summer camp, so not the nice meal we had hoped for. Ditto for the bar where we had a drink after dinner.
Food was over priced for the value and experience in the evening and breakfast. Was disappointed that breakfast didn't have the option of a sit down service although they had staff standing around and only offered a buffet. The morning coffee was horrible, had to use the Starbucks. Unfortunately, they pretty much have you because there's nothing else around.
This restaurant had a event in the building and could not keep up with the dinning room too. We got our bottle of wine but never got our appetizer or bread. It took just about an hour to get our entrees. The staff tried to make it up with bear cheese and chips, that helped. The staff is always friendly.
I have no issue with prices however, I love when I'm spending I know I'm getting what I'm paying for and this was not the case for this restaurant. The food was definitely overpriced for the quality. I was very disappointed. We were on our birthday trip and this was our last night and the food was definitely the worse out of our three nights.
The live music and greeting each mother with a single rose were nice added touches to this year's brunch. The food was delicious as usual. Service by the waitstaff could be improved by more promptly assisting patrons with clearing dishes to preserve already limited table space.
We love the Piedmont Dining Room at Callaway Gardens. We are local and go for the different buffets and also breakfast. It's a good price for the choices. Love the food. The menu has great options as well. Highly recommend.
The food and service are great. A widely varied menu suites all three nights during our stay. Sunday evening there was a game at the pub next door. The doors were open which made the erupting responses fill the restaurant with that spontaneous noise because the doors remained open to the restaurant. The brunch daily was to our liking g as well with made to order omelets on Sunday. The rest of the week breakfast was good and the service was awesome. The lady who made the bacon (on Tuesday) added to fantastic bacon all week. The biscuits at both dinner and breakie were great. ✌️
We gave up after we had to wait for table with reservation even though countless tables were readily set and available. We watched server clean table while holding ends of salt and pepper shakers in her palm, which was gross. Finally get seated but no menus or even an glass of water let along an offer to get a drink. We gave up after it was 20 mins past our reservation and it was so obvious they are understaffed to laughable levels. You can't bring people to a middle of no where resort (which is really amazing) and then have no reasonable means of feeding everyone. Same bad staffing made it a 30+ minute wait for food by discovery center the next day. Maybe ya'll need to consider more pre-made grab and go dining options.

"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. The salmon the first night was amazing and the desserts were on point. The table was split on the buffeet – one person thought it was good, but another felt that the was not enough balance with the veggies. There was not enough. Mash potatoes and salad was not enough vegetables, there needed to be more. Service was friendly, and she interacted with us in a positive manner."
The buffet was fantastic! The best prime rib. The problem was the hostess who seated us. Our reservation for two requested a window table for 2. We had to wait for a table to be cleared and were seated at a table for 4 in middle of the room. Thankfully our server moved us to the requested table. Hostess never looked at reservation as to the request. When busy, the dining room is very crowded and loud with a lot of activity w/diners up and down to buffet.
We had the Seafood Extravaganza and it was worth every penny. The selection of seafood was plentiful as well as salads and desserts. Our waitress seemed to appear just when we needed a refill or an extra napkin.
Misty is incredible. We ate there twice and specifically asked for Misty. Friendly, great recommendations and speedy. She knows how to get things done even on a busy evening!
Overall great date night. The service was fantastic! The food was fresh, interesting and tasty. We will be back.
