My husband and I spent a night there for our upcoming anniversary. Unfortunately, there was bad weather which I know cannot be controlled, but they did not handle it very well. The gardens were shut down and the power went out in the lodge and they didn’t do anything about it. I reached out to customer service and nobody got back to me.
This place closed for good during the 2020 pandemic. I believe Callaway Gardens still uses it for events.
Going through hoops to try to get a refund for the light show that was canceled. Disappointing.
Giant scam! The customer service agents you speak with lie on the phone lie to customers. The agent I spoke with told me the last trolley ran at 9 pm. When I got to the Gardens, the last trolley in fact ran at 7 pm. Their online site was still selling tickets even though the trolley was closed. The onsite staff were rude and condescending. Two days later, after multiple calls, no one has contacted me back! Do not waste your time nor money here!
09/01/24 was suppose to be the Hot air balloon and glow show with fire works. Let me just say it was nothing of the sort. The ballon rides started at 4-8pm. I got there at 4pm and was told it was too hot to go up come back at 6pm mind you there was no ballon in sight. I called the Callway help desk and asked were all events still on and I was advised they were. So my family decided to stay. The tether rides never happened today despite us getting there on time before any weather issues. We stayed that night for the glow balloons that were supposed to be at 8:30pm. They never happened either, they decided to blaze fire sticks on the beach and do 8 minutes of fireworks. Not once was it communicated with the visitors that the show wouldn’t happen or that the rides wouldn’t either. This was the worst experience I have ever had here!!
An absolute gem! From the rosemary sourdough, the the polite service, to the quiet and gorgeous atmosphere, the quality of this restaurant is priceless… PLEASE reopen!!!

So so on the food. Nothing special
After driving 4+ hours to see the Christmas lights, we decided to give the signature restaurant a go. I cannot stress enough that this was the worst meal of both our entire lives. From the moment we walked in it was a super uncomfortable atmosphere. The “fresh, warm bread” was stale and flavorless. I had the eggplant Parmesan and my fiancé had the rainbow trout. My eggplant was old and just plain gross. I don’t know what was in the sauce but eww. His trout had zero flavor, extremely overcooked, and was FULL of bones. Both of our veggies were inedible. We decided to get dessert because it HAD to be better, right? WRONG. I ordered the apple tarte but our server came back 10 minutes later and told me they were out of it. So I decided to try the pecan pie. He had the pumpkin creme brûlée. The pecan pie was 100% from the dollar store freezer section. It was so gelatinous and the pecans on top were burnt. I couldn’t even eat it. His “pumpkin creme brûlée” was NOT in fact creme brûlée at all. It was definitely warmed over pumpkin pie filling from a can. There was no custard. There never was a custard. The texture was extremely off-putting. And to top that all off, there was no caramelized sugar topping. It had obviously been put in the oven for a while because the whole dish was hot, so the pumpkin pie filling was burned on top. I cannot say STAY AWAY enough. We spent $100 on the worst meal of our lives. I would give anything to have not eaten this meal and gone to literally any other restaurant or fast food joint.
