Came in for lunch after checking the menu online, but the in-store menu didn’t match. We customized a few items, and the first employee made us feel like an inconvenience—she even asked someone else to take our order in front of us. Thankfully, the second employee was kind, helpful, and reassured us it wasn’t a problem at all. Food was great, but the initial service was disappointing.
Great food with great service.
A Truly Disappointing Visit – McAlister’s Deli Needs New Leadership
I don’t usually write reviews, but after the experience my mother and I had at McAlister’s Deli recently, I felt it was necessary.
We walked in hoping for a simple, enjoyable lunch together. What greeted us instead was a scene of neglect and indifference: not one, not two, but six dirty tables scattered around the dining area—all untouched the entire time we were there. It was clear no effort had been made to maintain any level of cleanliness.
Despite the mess, we decided to stay and order before we were starving. Maybe they were just busy, we thought. But as we looked around, we noticed there were only two other customers in the entire restaurant—a quiet couple sitting in the corner. So busy, they were not.
After placing our order, the woman at the counter handed my mother her receipt without saying a single word. No smile, no thank you, not even a “have a nice day.” My mom looked at me and said, “Wow… what a lack of customer service.” I had to agree.
We sat down, hoping the food might redeem the experience. Five minutes passed, and then ten. We watched, puzzled, as our food sat on the counter, ready, just staring back at us. Meanwhile, we noticed three other employees sitting in the manager’s office, completely disengaged from what was happening out front.
Fifteen minutes in, I stood at the counter while our food remained untouched. The employee was busy correcting another customer’s order (which they had messed up), and still, no one acknowledged me or the food sitting in plain view. They just spoke over it and I was getting worried I was going to be eating their spit over the conversation they had over my food just sitting on the counter.
Finally, after 20 minutes of waiting, I asked, “Can I please take my food, even though you’re supposed to bring it to the table?” A kitchen worker came out to help the overwhelmed counter staff, handed me our tray, and walked away. No silverware. No pickle. No dressing on the side, which I had specifically asked for & paid for. At that point, it was just insult added to injury.
We sat and ate quietly, surrounded by the same six dirty tables, which—by the way—still hadn’t been cleaned by the time we left. Even as the supposed managers walked by them repeatedly, they never lifted a finger to help or direct their staff.
It’s a shame. What could’ve been a peaceful lunch with my mother turned into a frustrating reminder of how poor management and disinterested staff can ruin an entire experience. Safe to say, we won’t be returning until there’s new leadership in place.
McAlister’s Deli, do better. Your guests deserve better. Truly disappointed.
been here in the past but it’s been a really long time… then a few weeks ago i decided to order panera and saw it would be around 20 for a meal. decided to compare mcalisters and ended up with a great meal for less money!
I will never eat here again; other McAlister's locations are good, but this one is terrible. My table ordered two orders of the ultimate nachos. It had chili, olives, jalapenos, and cold shredded cheese on it. The menu said it should also have tomatoes, avocado, green onions, sour cream, and cheese dip. The nachos were stone cold and dry. My sandwich was a mess--also cold.
I would have gone back up to the counter to get it right, but about that time, everything fell apart. No one's order was correct, and food was going back and forth to the kitchen. The the woman at the register told everyone in line that they were too backed up and they can't take any orders for 45 minutes. They weren't even busy. People just turned around and left.
You could tell the people at the front were brand new (one even told me so), and the kitchen staff kept getting everything wrong. This is 100% a management issue. Train your staff and get some quality control in the kitchen. Absolutely ridiculous.
the first time i was here with my mama, it was delicious and they got the order correct. i then came with my grandparents and we ordered ultimate nachos and it didnt have half the things on it. the sandwich i had was very sloppy but it was good but not so good. the best part was the bread. they stopped taking orders and turned away from ppl who wanted to eat here. NEVER. EVER. AGAIN.!!!!!!! AAAAH
I was disappointed with my food today. Although there was plenty of meat on my Ruben it lack taste. First of all, it was COLD, no Ruben is served cold. That's a corn beef sandwich without the sauerkraut. The bread was not grilled n the sauerkraut was as cold as the meat. If there was Russian or thousand island dressing I surely didn't taste it. At the price you pay for a good sandwich at least make it correctly. I was ask if I wanted a pickle. But never got it, never got my number ( i had to go back to the counter & ask) Continuing poor quantity means no customer, I'll go to another deli to get a Ruben correctly made.
Horrible... you name it!! food was cold (that should have been hot), HAIR found in the sandwich, order mixed up and not prepared as requested. When we contacted them, they could care less, and said 'file a complaint'!! Disgraceful! DO NOT recommend, will never return!

Sandwiches and clubs are very fresh. Although I ordered the Black Angus club that was missing the cheese on it was still very fresh in taste. Sides are great, sweets as well.

Ordered a catering lunch for work and it went horribly wrong. For starters the driver was 45 minutes late. Every time we called the store; they said the driver was in traffic. We pulled up google maps and it was literally NO traffic at all. We he finally arrived he smelled like a pack of walking cigarettes. Why would you smoke in the car KNOWING you are delivering food?! The bread on one of the king chicken clubs wasn't toasted and to add injury to insult they put the end piece of the bread in the middle of the sandwich! I've NEVER had a restaurant give me the end piece of any bread. My coworkers' macaroni and cheese was ice cold. The store didn't attempt to heat it up. We called the day before and requested pickles which we did NOT get. The last straw was my other coworker has a long piece of hair in his sandwich. He literally got down to the last two bites and pulled the hair out of his mouth. We spent way too much money to receive this terrible service. Orders mixed up, cold items, cigarette smoke, and long hair is NOT what we paid for.

I really like this restaurant but since 2020 they've had lots of issues with quality control. I'm getting really tired of having to remove over half of my salad because it's mostly gone bad. I have pictures but for whatever reason google won't led me add pictures to the review

Wow Shrinkflation hit them hard I guess. Higher prices and cut portions. Won't be back. Save your money and go get good elsewhere. For the price we spent and the amount we got is an absolute joke.

Every time I order from here the food is prepared sloppily and the management and crew never have everything in your bag you always have to double check before you leave. This is ridiculous.
