Sumo Japanese Teriyaki & Sushi

Horrible. We threw all the food away. This place is in a strip mall close to the Georgia/So. Carolina border and near some hotels. I assume it caters to a lot of people traveling north or south. We went there to pick up a quick meal while staying overnight nearby. Spring rolls were the tiny frozen kind you get at Costco and they were saturated in oil. Worse, the sushi was gray, warm, and smelled like it was left in the sun. Inedible. Don’t go there. There are several other food options in the area, including the strip mall where this place is located. Try your luck somewhere else.

Service at this location was horrible. As shown in the photo rice is white, not fried sauce is clump on to the chicken. Spring roll is full of grease. The location in Savannah on Victory was better and we will not patronize again.

What is this? This isn’t hibachi, it’s fried rice with a couple drops of soy sauce. No veggies. No soup and salad. Portions are very small. We basically had another dinner after we ate this. Go somewhere else and save your money.

I ordered 2 specialty rolls and they were extremely fishy tasting. One didn’t even have fish in it.

Dumplings are good. Prices are average.

Will not be returning.

I absolutely did not enjoy it at all. Salmon and shrimp dinner...salmon over cooked and the rice tasted terrible, long grain, undercooked taste and texture... certainly not the traditional short grain sticky rice in hibachi! More sliced onions than any other veggies. Service okay though. Money wasted.

I ordered hibachi chicken and shrimp with fried rice. It’s more like Chinese food white rice with soy sauce not fried. It’s not bad but it’s not hibachi.

Sumo in port wentworth is consistent, clean, and kind! Expect the price is worth the quality of food. Sushi 🍣 is delicious and fresh! Tempura shrimp is also amazing!

There are multiple places like this to eat in Pooler and Port Wentworth and Rincon but this is the one that tastes the best ouf of the bunch. Been going at least once a week for about 2 years And it always tastes darn good. Deff recommend.

Very good when they would have their amazing tofu steaks but they haven't had tofu in stock for several weeks now, always a "no" when we call ahead. Don't understand why since Food Lion is next door, but if you're not going to offer it, please take off your menu.

Everything was very delicious, a great surprise ???

Just ordered the chicken and steak entree, and a side order of spicy shrimp sushi rolls. Everything was delicious and tasted very fresh! This place came highly recommended by some coworkers of mine and they were spot on. There is a place right down the road from where I live in Summerville kind of like this, and Sumo is way better! I would seriously drive 2.5 hours t eat here again. I am staying in town for a few days and wish I would have tried this place earlier. This is a must try place!

This place is very clean, the food is good and it came out with. The staff went the extra mile and charged my phone as well when it was dying and only at 1%. Highly recommend.
