Unique experience. Extremely long wait after being seated. 15-20 minutes before the server arrived. After that, the service was spot on. The food was ok. Nothing really special.

I haven’t been able to eat there in years. It brought back some good memories and everything about it was excellent. Can’t wait to go back.

Ray’s Mill Pond Café is one of those places that perfectly captures the spirit of a Southern family gathering. Tucked away just outside of Nashville, Georgia, this spot has been a local favorite for years — and it’s easy to see why. The restaurant sits right on the edge of a beautiful pond, giving it a laid-back, rustic atmosphere that feels like stepping into a family backyard rather than a commercial restaurant.
When we visited, it wasn’t just the food that made the experience memorable — it was the unexpected excitement. While out on the dock, we spotted a massive alligator gliding through the water. Before long, two men came out to try and catch it, and the whole scene became an impromptu bit of entertainment that had everyone watching from the windows and porch. It was one of those moments that you just can’t plan for but makes the night unforgettable.
Inside, the vibe is casual and warm. It’s the kind of place where big families gather, kids run around, and everyone seems to know someone. The food is hearty and comforting — nothing pretentious, just good Southern cooking that hits the spot after a long day.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through South Georgia, Ray’s Mill Pond Café offers more than a meal; it’s a snapshot of small-town life, complete with great food, a gorgeous setting, and the kind of stories you end up telling for years afterward.

Excellent food. Service was decent, but we got there towards the end of a busy day. I'm guessing that everyone was tired.
