I went to have a sandwich made today at the deli. For weeks I've noticed the deli staff who makes the sandwiches aren't available to make a sandwich but they are all standing around talking on cell phones or with each other. Today an older dedicated female employee took my order and made my sandwich fresh. They are currently only offering multi grain bread in attempt to turn customers away who may want wheat, white or sweet Italian. The deli department is severely understaffed. The employee who made my sandwich was very nice but I noticed her coworker which was a younger male seasoning chicken and talking on his phone very loudly at the sink. Cell phones all over the place. Multiple customers were ready to order however her co worker just placed his personal conversation first and made her do all of the work. Very disappointed. I felt very bad for her.

buen servicio gente educada cajeras amable
I actually posted on my Facebook today that this location has finally added Pick Up. At the start pandemic the entrance of this store looked like a crime scene with shopping carts strung together with yellow caution tape in a long line blocking the doors. As a senior, I was extra cautious and literally afraid to shop there. At the same time the Banks location in Fayetteville was operating fairly normally AND offered Pick Up service. I don't know what criteria Kroger uses to determine which stores get enhancements and renovations, but it seems that this Riverdale store in my neighborhood always lags toward the end of the list. I CAN normally find everything I need at this location and the addition of the extra U-scan does help alleviate long lines. Simply put, if the Banks Crossing and the Merchant Square stores were side by side, my preference would be to shop the Banks Crossing Kroger 10 times out of 10.
