On 8/12/2024, I and my niece went to Hugo’s Oyster Bar for Dinner. She had been there before and thought I would enjoy eating a meal there. She lives in the area I’m from New Jersey and was on my way to Huntsville, Alabama on business.
I could have flown into Huntsville through Charlotte but chose to fly into Atlanta in the hope I would be able to spend a few hours visiting my niece before driving to Huntsville.
Hugo’s Oyster House was a real treat. My niece knew the staff, she introduced me. We took our seats the waiter was a friend of hers and treated us like family. They spoke about what they were doing outside of work.
The waiter brought the menu and gave us time to peruse the menu to decide what we wanted.
I had the Praline Crusted Salmon
brussels sprouts, roasted sweet potatoes, bourbon glaze. Wow, it was so delicios . I do not remember my nieces order.
We had a nice time catching up. The waiter would come by to ask if we needed anything else.
We ordered a dessert to share, and got a dessert to take back to her home. All in all we had a lovely dining experience it was a great experience.
Dietary restrictions: I am allergic to shrimp; the waiter made sure that there would be no cross contamination using common pots or oil used on my food.
Parking: Parking was free and sufficient.

We found this place in IG! Was excited about the Bloody Mary Bar and the oysters.
Place is neat and clean. Our server Joe was great! They have outside and indoor seating, both are comfortable. TVs to watch. However no extra packages, if it's not local, you aren't watching it.
We ordered the Filthy Old Fashion. It was OK, very sweet, but the Mescal OLD Fashion on point! But the Bloody Mary Bar.....best thing in this place. If you know how to prepare a Bloody Mary, it's perfect for you! So many options and was the best Bloosy Mary I have had in a lonnnnnnng time!
On to the food. Mediocre at best. The Market Oysters were not cold, the Raw Oysters were Slaughtered! Showing the inexperience of the shucker in the kitchen, not what you expect for an OYSTER BAR. However the Chargrilled... COOKED PERFECTLY , I asked for them lightly chargrilled and they did. My husband ordered what was supposed to be Shrimp and Grits.... NO.. IT HAD LIKE A AN AU JUS sauce vs a Creamy tomato sauce. Almost had a flavor of Worcheshire and A1. We sent it back. The crab crake was OK, not lump but good flavor. He also ordered what was supposed to be a Friedn Redfish, it was good but we don't think it was Red fish. I had the peel and eat that was just steamed with Old Bay, no flavor really! The Gumbo was OK Roux alright.
To be a part of C&S oyster, totally different experience (expected) totally different taste in food (unexpected). Couldn't stay for dessert, chose to find another bar.
Will we drive 50 minutes again? NO. But if in the area will stop by for a Bloody Mary that I make.
Price...OVERPRICED for the quality.
Wheelchair accessibility: I was on a Rolling Knee Chair and it was plenty of room

Hugo's probably my #1 seafood place, second only to her sister restaurant C&S down in the Cumberland Mall area. C&S is a bit more 'upscale' in ambiance, but has a similar menu. Both restaurants have almost exclusively seafood, so if you have guests wanting something else, Hugo/C&S aren't the place to go. Their menu is pretty comprehensive in the seafood sector though, and everything else is terrific, though I find the restaurant louder than I'd like...a bit difficult to hear. I've had 80% of everything on the menu, haven't found anything I didn't like!
This place is phenomenal! Food is perfectly seasoned, raw oysters are delicious, and the service is great.

Holy smokes, this is the hidden Seafood GEM of north Atlanta!
Oysters….. are the best, they’re also different each time you go. Chef has it locked down. Cocktails are on point as well

The beignet appetizers were fabulous. I had an oyster sampler that was pretty fair. Another person in the party has salmon and said it was delicious. the atmosphere was a little loud to carry on the conversation at the table.

Incredible experience from the door! They were all so kind, hospitable and welcoming since we got to the door. We will continue to frequent this restaurant with friends and family because the food is amazing!!!

Warm greeting upon arrival, seated exactly where I requested. Our server Joe was great - very pleasant and patient and attentive. Our only complaints were that it took too long to get our checks - seemed like more time to get checks than food. Not normally an issue, but had senior parents with us who were READY TO GO! My husband HATES when restaurant checks list a charge for ice. He talked to Joe when we were paying and made clear he doesn't mind paying, especially if it is a bit more alcohol over the ice - just charge more for the drink and change software to remove $1 for ice. Bottom line - one of our favorite restaurants. Great vibe and great food.
Food is really good, especially the oysters! Not crazy about the quality and price of menu cocktails. Second time we visited in less than a month and while the food quality is amazing, the cocktails on the menu were a miss each time for anyone in our party who tried them. I would recommend wine, spirits straight or on the rocks or beer.
Absolutely beautiful experience, smiling faces and instant acknowledgment as soon as i stepped through the door, the bartender was friendly from start to finish, the food was quick and delicious. Highly recommend the eggrolls as the flavour was phenomenal.
Hugo's is consistent for us, which is why we continue to go back. It's a family favorite. My only note is I wish they would serve their red wine a tad cooler. We prefer our reds not at room temp which tends toward warm. Reds should be served at 57 degrees, which is our preference.
Great food and an even better staff, best oyster spot in GA.
