Our dinner reservation was at 6:30pm. We arrived approximately 15 minutes early. And, although the restaurant was only approximately 60% - 70% full and we observed that there were empty tables, we were told that we would need to wait until our scheduled time to be seated. Since we were clearly early we did not mind waiting. Even as we concluded our meal and proceeded to exit the restaurant we noticed that there were still tables that were not occupied. Nor had they been occupied during our meal. It was clear that they were not 100% full; therefore, we were confused why we had to wait to be seated.
Regarding the meal, the biscuits were great and the appetizers were very good; however, my husband and I were very disappointed with our entrees. I ordered the Thanksgiving special, which was smoked turkey and dressing. My husband ordered the ribeye. Both were EXTREMELY salty. My entree was so salty in fact that I could not eat it and relayed to the waitress that she could return it to the kitchen. On the positive side, she did compensate for our displeasure and removed my entree from the bill. Although there were several gaps in service overall it was adequate.
Lastly, and this is a minor detail, our waitress kept addressing us by someone else’s last name. The Cloister and other fine dining restaurants on Sea Island pride themselves on calling their guests by last name. Not sure how to address the forgetfulness of our waitress; however, we just wanted them to know.
Although The Lodge is nice it is doubtful that we will return in the future. We hope that you find our comments helpful.

Doesn’t matter how good the food is, if you can’t bring in your own wine and pay a corkage fee it’s not a restaurant worth going to. Som even admitted they pay $250 for a bottle they list at $600; why even pretend they’re not extorting you as a customer I guess.

Over the years, I've frequently enjoyed dining at Colt & Alison and have consistently been impressed. However, my most recent visit left me feeling somewhat let down. The quality of the food lived up to expectations, and so did the prices, with the chateaubriand for two priced at $190, and the wine selection notably superior, particularly for the southeast US. Yet, two aspects of the experience were less than satisfactory for me. Firstly, the atmosphere was excessively formal to the point of discomfort; a call from my wife in Europe requiring a brief, whispered conversation led to an immediate request by the manager for me to end the call. Nobody in the restaurant could hear me. Secondly, a diner next to me was subtly prompted to adhere to a dress code by being provided a jacket, adding to the overly rigid ambiance. The service, while attentive, and deemed by most that review as outstanding, to me, it bordered on intrusive, with frequent check-ins disrupting the flow of conversation. Despite these drawbacks, I'm inclined to return, having a slight hope for a future decrease in the restaurant's rigid formalities, though I suspect this may not change.

A beautiful venue with good service, but I was a bit underwhelmed by the food. The plating of the wedge salad was untraditional with the half-head of lettuce being used as a vat for blue cheese. It was good though! I chose the bone-in ribeye over the filet but wish I hadn't. It was thinner than I expected for the price and a tad overcooked. I added GA shrimp which were tiny, barely seasoned, not grilled and bland. For sides, the mushrooms were very good (favorite part of the entire meal) but the truffle fries were way too salty. Wine by the glass options are few, but pricey.

What an incredible meal at a gorgeous spot! The service was perfection. Attentive, never intrusive. The food was fantastic. Prime steak; temp as requested, not over seasoned. Wonderful menu; wine galore. The atmosphere in and around the restaurant was sublime. The dining room offers broad views of the water and has a classic golf inspired charm. Outside little kids putt on the practice greens while proud Mom’s try to get everyone into a picture. The bagpiper on the fairway…you’re crying, I’m not!! Calm; classy. Worth every penny and more. What a rare treat indeed.

My family indulged me in gathering to celebrate my 70th birthday for a week at Sea island, My special birthday dinner was much anticipated in this beautiful locale. I will be honest that the service was adequate but disjointed with the exception of the sommelier. The food came in a very disjointed series and much slower than even a relaxed diner would expect. The sauces (each is an extra $5 charge) for our steaks didn't arrive until we asked for them a good 15 minutes after our steaks were served. And at that point the waiter assigned to our table was totally unaware that our meals were not complete. My filet mignon was rather tough and forgettable. The Bernaise was very thick and gluey. The french fries were the same quality as what we received at the pool-side snack bar.To say that the service is gracious at Sea Island is a stretch. The actual cuisine was oK or good for some dishes but a far cry from great. Frankly I expected more along the lines of having caesar salad prepared table-side. My hope is that there will still be a place for fine dining at Sea island in the future. After a week here on site I didn't experience a combination of well-trained service or fine cuisine. The facility is suburb and we will return but I will do further research and consider hiring a chef to cook at our cottage.

Not the Colt and Alison of years past. Service was slow and inattentive. The quality and preparation of my steak was not that of a high end steak house and the tables did not have tablecloths. I hope our visit was simply on an off night when the Chef was on vacation, and the dry cleaner forgot to deliver the linens. Definitely not indicative of the Sea Island experience.
Great venue for a more traditional resort casual dinner. The ambiance was upscale but not pretentious, a little on the noisy side once the restaurant filled up but not uncomfortable. The service was great. The menu is broad enough to offer options for all palates and the wine list was strong as well. All of the menu options we chose were excellent as was the food presentation. If I was visiting Sea Island again Colt & Alison would definitely be on our go to restaurant list.
One of the finest restaurants in America. No kidding. Steaks are beyond belief.

The food was mostly excellent. Wonderful waitstaff and exciting selection of drinks. The steak was perfect but I found the salmon mediocre; it was a bit fishy tasting. The truffle fries were also mediocre/non-memorable but the other sides were good. It’s a beautiful venue with pleasant views and ambiance. For the value, I would hope for a higher tier quality for all dishes, but I will definitely return and order some new items - and reevaluate my rating. It’s a wonderful restaurant worth a visit.
