Quick friendly service. Great food and drinks. They were very busy but we got an order to go and was put in 10 minutes. I even got to try their special alcoholic drinks to decide which I wanted.

Maybe we got the wrong items on the menu. This place was very busy/popular, to the point that there wasn't any space to wait for your order. It was 4pm and they were out of chicken so I got the turkey which had the texture and fat content of ham. The mac and cheese lacked flavor, hushpuppies were okay, but the beans were very good.

Great place to go. They have lunch special that great deal. The bbq has great flavor. We had most of items and everything was great. A must stop in island!

Enjoyed this meal after finishing a checkride at KSSI. Close enough to walk to, but it'll be a hot walk. Very solid BBQ

Could be I went at a bad time, but the Sprite was just carbonated water, pulled pork was chunky, not shredded, and brisket was tougher and fat not dissolved. I took this to mean the meat was cooked at a hotter temp for a shorter time. Mustard sauce was stiff almost like it was just mustard and the crust didn't have any seasoning, I don't want to call it bland but there wasn't really any flavor besides 'pork'. The food was edible so I'm not giving it a 1 and I won't be trying it again.

We ordered family style and the Brisket and Ribs were top tier. It has been a while since I have found decent brisket, and Southern Soul did not disappoint. Don't forget to order some Mac n Cheese too.

This places is a namesake and it makes sense. It is good. It is well known. And it is fun. It wasn’t my favorite bbq ever. I got the sampler platter with pork and brisket. They both were a little dry sadly. I had collards and Brunswick stew as sides. The stew was the best thing I had. My friend ordered the prime rib special with hoppin jones and Mac n cheese. The prime rib was huge and pretty tasty. The sides were just ok. I do think this place is a good place to go. Huge portions and it is popular for a reason. We got there right at 11 and by the time we left there was already a line. Worth a try for sure. I just wouldn’t say it is my favorite and I have had better.

One person taking orders and working the register on a Saturday afternoon, made for slow/poor service. Brisket on the sandwich was a little tough which made the sandwich nearly impossible to eat, and no fat was trimmed so ⅓ of the sandwich was fat. Baked beans, mac & cheese, pulled pork were all VERY good!

We drove all the way from Savannah to check this place out, we love BBQ so looking forward to what this place was all about. Even though it's a cute joint, horrible location. Idk why it was busy bc the food was not all that! Soul BBQ that was lacking SOUL! No flavor whatsoever for my pulled pork sandwich and coleslaw looked like lobster slaw, also NO flavor. My partner got the brisket , plain no flavor and Mac n cheese was OK. Even that mustard sauce that came with it was garbage. cheap buns and very overpriced. Don't waste your time! Find ya a BBQ joint with some actual SOUL & FLAVOR to it!

I think this is one of the few places that actually lives up to its reputation consistently! We were in.’ordered at the counter, ate our meals were walking out in less than 45 minutes. If you’re wondering where the fifth star went, I am not a fan of no table service. The lady at the order counter is the first person you meet. Why not put on a smile or the least say something genuine or “greeting” in nature. She had a borderline rude demeanor and never even so much as uttered a kind word or even thank you for our business. However, this seems to be more the normal rather than the exception. Why not be pleasant?!!!

Parking: The majority seem to drive and dine without issues. We flew in and walked from the airport so parking appeared to be limited but not difficult.

I hate leaving negative reviews. But I have to correct the score in this case. Southern Soul is, in some places, listed as the best barbecue in Georgia. Well, the best barbecue in Georgia doesn't make it good. I tried four meats and four sides. I can't recommend anything. The brisket? Dry. The pork? Dry and lacking any flavor whatsoever. The ribs? Tasty, but dry. I don't know how you do that. The sausage? DRY! HOW CAN YOU MAKE SOMETHING THAT IS 20-30% FAT DRY? I HAVE NO IDEA!

If you've ever been to anywhere near Kansas City or Texas, this is not the barbecue place for you. Go eat somewhere else.

(I would also like to chat with anybody who wrote any of those articles.)

Dramatically, overpriced brisket!
$16.50 for a brisket sandwich that was not very spectacular and did not include a drink or a side. Literally just plain bread and meat for $16.50!
I feel robbed! You can get much better brisket for 25% less cost in Jacksonville, FL at the bearded pig or Bono’s. I feel like I need to call the police and fill out a crime report, because I was definitely robbed at Southern Soul!
