Wolf Island Oyster Co – Raw Pork Surprise

Went Friday night 8/8/25. Service? Great. Apps? Delicious. Then came my “beef ribeye” … except it wasn’t beef. It was raw pork ribeye. Yes—raw pork. Tough as a tire, and about as appetizing. The waiter looked like he’d seen a ghost when the kitchen admitted the blunder and yanked it from the bill.

Meanwhile, the “crab cakes” my wife and son-in-law ordered weren’t cakes at all—just sad crab spread. Sandwich? Crab paste on bread. Entrée? Two scoops of crab mush.

Serving raw pork to someone who ordered beef isn’t a “whoops.” It’s a food safety nightmare. The executive chef should’ve been out apologizing instead of sending a waiter out to deal with it. I still tipped as if I had paid for my meal that was taken off the ticket. The waiter indicated that there were many new staff in the kitchen but that is not my problem. Last visit for us—ever. I’ve posted a photo of my meal in the photo section. If the chef , GM or other manager had come out and rectified this situation I would not have written this review but instead they sent out the waiter to deal with it so here ya go.

Great place to go with friends or spouse/date. Our church couples small group met here and the food, atmosphere, and service were nice. The tuna nachos, boudin balls, and fish taco we had were very delicious especially the appetizers. Their wood slab tables are a great touch also. We’ll be back.

We were met with friendly smiles and seated outside with a nice country field and a beautiful sunset view. The drinks were refreshing and just what I needed for such a HOT day. I really came for oyesters, and although they were a disappointment, the fish tacos made up for them. The fries and tacos were the highlights for me. All overall, a 7/10 experience and would recommend this place for a casual outting.

Had the fried oysters skillet for an appetizer. Folks it will take you to another level!!! The oysters, no wait, the andouille no the collard greens,...man it was all fantastic!!! The main was shrimp and grits. I didn't think it could get any better but it did!! I am a shrimp and grits fanatic and these definitely were at the top of the list. Thanks for the great experience!!

We had the best dinner here! And the best key lime pie. It’s a very nice place with great 70’s soft rock music. I highly recommend coming for the oysters! We will be back!

Came in and was seated promptly. Server was quick to our table. Ordered food and drinks. Food was o.k. nothing spectacular. Alot of old bay seasoning. Just felt like food was thrown together.
I thought this would be a great place. Not amazing. There has to be better places to eat on St. Simon's island.

Music was playing too loudly. Noise level with music and from other diners made for very unpleasant attempt at conversations. Will be discouraged from going back when conversation is important. Restaurant acoustics need to be addressed.

Food was delicious and I was extremely pleased with it. I wish I could say the same for the service. Actually, the service from the other servers were great, unfortunately, our server Lorna, was not the most pleasant. We were unfortunate to have her as our server. Extremely rude and asked us not to be moving from chairs or she would put our bill all together even after we requested to all be separate. At first, I took her personality as a silly sarcasm one, until she pointed her finger up at me and told me to wait to order my drink. It was first time here, and will be my last. My friends and I were extremely shocked at her constant rudeness. She never came to check on us. She forgot what I ordered and came back and asked me what I had ordered. Needless to say, the rest of the staff was great, I cannot say the same thing about her. Whoever is thinking of trying out this place, I’d recommend it as long as you do not get her as your server.

It has the potential to be a great place. The food is very poor – for example the muscles were served in a small salad bowl as opposed to the usual large bowl presentation. Service was excruciatingly slow. Food was mediocre. I would suggest don't come here until they have some revamping to do. PS ordered oysters and they were 50% more than what the menu price was.

Food was very good but service leaves ALOT to be desired. We were quickly seated then one waiter came by then disappeared for 15 minutes. We watched him attend to everyone but us. Sierra , a wonderful, professional and highly attentive server saved the day. If it wasn’t for her we were seconds from leaving. We dine out 3-4 times a week and dressed appropriately. Thought should be given if we were restaurant reviewers how this experience would have torpedoed this establishment.

Cool location in SSI with lots of potential. We came at an “off” time on a Sunday. We were promptly greeted, then shown to a table. We waited about ten minutes to be greeted by a server and service was spotty throughout the experience. There appeared to be about 4 hostesses, two bartenders and one server working. Although the service wasn’t great, the food didn’t disappointed. The spicy sauce served with the peel and eat shrimp was unique and tasty!

We enjoyed the candied bacon and the service. One meal came out later than the other. It was corrected and came out very good. We ordered mimosas for seven. The server seems surprised? Bottomless is an option on the menu which was listed for $18. When the bill arrived they charged us $24. The server said they were changing the menu and it cost a lot to change the menus. The menus are printed on plain paper. So it doesn’t cost that much to reprint paper. We called a manager over and he didn’t want to correct he also rolled his eyes at us when we questioned the menu pricing. They eventually did correct the pricing on the drinks. However other items were incorrect vs the menu. CHECK YOUR BILL before you pay.

Lots of mix ups in the kitchen and felt bad for our server. Took longer than we would want to eat but food was good once we finally got it! Outdoor porch area is quaint ❤️

We met another couple for a 5pm dinner. They were enjoying themselves at the bar when we arrived. We were seated and the server took drink orders immediately and meals soon after. The meals were very good. My scallops were done perfectly. When we arrived there were two tables occupied but when we left people were waiting to be seated and the noise level was bordering on uncomfortable. I recommend this restaurant but suggest you get there early to avoid the crowds and the noise.
