For a small town like Sandersville, this a big hearty meal with prices so cheap you'll drive a ways for it.
You walk in the door and go straight to the table with trays and silverware, then hit the buffet. Then by the drink counter, and pick your own table.
We went at 11:45am and the parking lot was pretty full but not everyone goes to the restaurant that parks there.
There was definitely a line, but it moved quickly. They had stuff I've never seen on a buffet, like hoecakes, corn nuggets, fatback, fried squash medallions, cheese grits, and Brunswick stew, alongside your normal offerings of potato salad, macaroni salad, mixed salad and fixings, cornbread muffins and biscuits, black-eyed peas and rice, fried chicken, fried fish, green beans with ham hocks, macaroni and cheese, some kind of cherry or raspberry cobbler, and they had the most delicious chocolate chip cookie pie with whipped cream. I hardly ever have dessert but I went back for seconds on that. You could tell the cookies and cream were homemade. Hell, everything was.
Plenty of open tables and everyone was friendly, like you'd expect in rural Georgia.
They kept our glasses filled and cleared our trays as soon as we sat back to relax before round two.
It was just the two of us but we overheard a family of 6 ate for $52 because two were kids under 10 and they ate free.
It's $12.96 per person for an all you can eat country homemade buffet makes for a rare gem in a cute town.
Great service. Great selections.
I had to talk with him about catering a small event 48 Buffet the food was quite good service was okay you serve yourself in the price was good
If you're looking for a true Southern Buffet, this is your place. Chester Dean's is a staple in Sandersville. Check out their FB page for their daily menu. I think that Tuesday is livers and gizzards day.

The food was just okay. I went one hour before the switch of dining in to carry out only. The options were very few, I had to wait for fresh food to be put out.

A wonderful discovery on our road trip from Lake Oconee to Florida (while avoiding the interstate highways on the Sunday after Thanksgiving). They opened right as we got there, and a line of Sunday regulars had already formed, indicating to us that the food would be great... and it was!

We are all about trying new things. we were in the area and was going to Mexican but they were packed so we decided to try Chester Dean's or Pickle Barrel; we ended up at Chester Dean's because it smelled delicious and the menu online looked good. Well, it wasn't as good as it looked/smelled. The bbq was dry and most other items tasted watered down. The skin on the fried chicken was good and the tea was good, but that's about it. Not a lot to choose from as they have only one bar line that consists of a few meats, a few veggies, dessert and salad. Honestly wasn't impressed at all with the food. The service was ok, as soon as I walked in to see if they had room for 2, I was able to be seated immediately, so that's a reasonable accommodation. I gave 4 stars because we'd never been there before so I thought someone brought us our drinks, so we just sat at the table for about 5 minutes waiting on someone to take our drink order not knowing you get your own when you go to fix your plate. Not once did they come and refill our cups though, we had to grab another glass when we ran out (they filled others cups though). The place was clean for the most part - however I didn't notice them wiping down tables at all after people left (they might have but I just saw one of the girls take an old cup of water off the table after the last person left and immediately put someone else at that table). The layout of the restaurant is pretty crazy and hard to get through to the bar or back to your table if you're sitting in the back room where we were because the register is in the middle of the restaurant in a "hallway" right in front of two doorways. This may be a good place for acquired taste buds, but we tried it and did not like it - nothing "country style" about it except the decor.
Parking: There is a small lot next to the building with a few spots and then a few spots in front of the building, otherwise expect to walk if these are full.
Wheelchair accessibility: Do not expect to come in here with a wheelchair - you can't get through because the tables are so close.
