I went there for a business dinner and apart from the table taking 20 mins to be ready even through the restaurant was half empty and there were 3 other open 4 tops available, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The noise level was pretty high but I think that was due to a large table of males who were a little over excited, as well as the acoustics of the room. The cocktails were complex and interesting and I could not fault the food. The service was perfectly acceptable. Would recommend.

Have dined here at least 2 times before. Food is always very good. Tonight the service was terrible. Dirty tables in the dining room. We sat with dirty dishes In front of us for way too long. Would have liked to order dessert but waiter missing in action for way too long. It doesn't seem that there is not enough staff, they just don't help each other enough to keep things running smoothly.

The service here is alway top. Kelly is amazing. I got my usual steak tartare and it was as heavenly as usual. The menu changes and this iteration I found less exciting. I wish the pastrami rubbed duck was still on the menu. While the confit de canard was good, it lacked the originality I have grown to expect. The smoked brownie is always a delight as well. I'll keep coming back. I love this place but Savannah needs to know about it. Why not change the name? The 1540 room makes you think you're going to get the same tired southern food. This place is anything but tired.

We had a fabulous experience dining at the 1540. The chef's wine tasting menu was excellent!~ Service by PJ couldn't have been better, and we enjoying our conversation with the sommelier as well. Highly recommend!

What a wonderful experience! We are foodies from the Midwest and thought everything about this place was top notch! Our server, Kelly was very knowledgeable and helped us pick the entrees that were unforgettable. We enjoyed the catch of the day which was the grouper and it was delightful. This experience made our trip to Savannah very special!

We ordered almost every appetizer off the menu and multiple entrees/wines and everything was perfection! the staff here are so attentive and helpful, and the food is just unreal.
We picked the 1540 Room after a quick search on Open Table and we were blown away. Our server Kelly was incredibly helpful both in selecting dishes and in tips about things to try in Savannah, since it was our first time here. The good was insanely good from the steak tartare to the local catch to the desserts which were amazing and complex. We would highly recommend the 1540 Room.

5 star all around. We had a party of 11 and shared appetizers and meals. The Kofta and scotch duck egg were both delicious. I'm not an oyster person but everyone said that the raw and charbroiled were delicious.
We all shared our meals so i got to taste a little of everything. I ordered the coulotte steak with homemade worschestershire sauce, brocclini, and duck fat potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly and the homemade worschestershre was a perfect compliment to the steak. It was a generous portion and I even had to take some home.
The merguez is also an excellent choice. They gave a generous portion of lamb sausage and couscous with fried chickpeas which was so delicious.
The pork chops with spring onion soubise was also delicious and I will order this if it is on the menu when I come back.
Overall an excellent choice and I will come back when I'm in Savanah. I'm just sorry that I didn't take any pictures of the food.

Everything we had(and we had a lot) tasted fresh, and very well though out in terms of components and flavors in the meal. When they tell you they make everything from scratch, they mean it and it shows. If it's still on the menu, get the brownie dessert, you will loose your mind. The only thing I would improve is that both drinks i had were overly sweet and the sweet component in them completely overpowered the spirit taste. Definitely a place worth another visit.
With the open kitchen, it was like watching a ballet masterfully delivered and delicious!! Highly recommend ?

My fiancee and I heard about this restaurant from a local bartender in the area who raved about 1540. Immediately we made reservations and had to try it out. From the atmosphere, service, food, drinks, attention to detail - this place is fantastic. We know we will be back when we visit Savannah again. Don’t hesitate to make a reservation if there’s availability, you will not regret it a single bit.

What an absolutely wonderful experience! My husband and I decided to celebrate our anniversary here and I would absolutely do so over and over again! The food was incredible, the atmosphere was cozy and elegant, and the staff was amazing! Everything on the menu was beyond delicious! The plating, display, flavors- all amazing! And they even brought little treats they thought our 3 year old would enjoy. Which she did, and we really appreciated that! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting or local any day of the week!
Kid-friendliness: They brought out little tid bits they thought our toddler would enjoy, it sent our experience over the top!
