Tonight, we found Asian River completely by accident. We were driving by and decided to stop in for dinner. We had other plans and literally cancelled them as we ordered our drinks. Best decision we have made in a long time.
It's nearly impossible to find good Asian food that hasn't been dulled down to basic bastardized random mall quality over-cooked corporate crap that we are all so very accustomed too that we think that is the way it should be, or worse yet, that it's actually good.
Asian River is the real deal.
You could tell everything was hand made. Higher quality ingredients. Vegetables fresh cut and perfectly cooked. Freshly rolled egg rolls. Freshly made Udon noodles. The general Taos chicken was perfection. An actual "sauce" instead of the run of the mill spicy hot sugar syrup. the chicken was cooked well and not hard or rubbery. The fried rice was an entirely different recipe than the normal fried rice you might get elsewhere, they make each serving of fried rice to order. It's absolutely magical.
It has been a very long time since I have had food this good. The seating and Decor are fantastic , I especially love the Ikea flower lights. Even the wall color blue over blue just made my day.
Our server, was very attentive and even though English is not her first language she seems to be doing well and making the best effort to communicate. There was a little confusion with the drinks, but it was just a matter of us taking a few extra minutes to ask questions and clarify. She did beautifully. The other server and the Chef stopped by as well and everyone was just wonderful.
We are definitely making this our regular spot now.
I am concerned about the other reviews. I was actually shocked to see so many bad ones and I am absolutely going to call them out. Most of these people don't know what they are talking about. I feel like the restaurant would be better received further north towards downtown or maybe out near Sandfly or the islands. This is not a fast food , drop in and dip out kind of place. This is a hidden gem that needs cliental with a broader pallet and significantly more patience. Absolutely worth every minute and every dime.

The service is mid. The lady was nice though. She forgot my chilli powder, after I already ate almost all my miso soup. Had to order another one to fully enjoy the spice, but the sushi is GREAT! the rolls are decently sized, and they did a great job heating up the sake. It wasn’t too hott. Their music rocks btw. They played rnb hits. It was so cool! The tables r a bit run down but, the place is super clean.
Waited on a to go box for 20 mins.

Stinky food was too expensive for the quality of the meat it was mostly fat. I also ordered steak and got some mid beef. Didn't get fried rice by default which is crazy. Sushi was ight. Would not come back very sad :'(

Was treated great when realized that they were there. Was at Jason deli next door, but since I had a great customer service experience with staff and decided to order something simple chicken teriyaki! 12 dollars. What I was so optimistic to eat and refer friends to end up to be a gastrointestinal run my head into a wall and ask what happened? Chicken was bland no teriyaki but they definitely put in a-lot of zucchini , onion and broccoli, there was one assignment chicken teriyaki. And that honestly did not happen. They may have potential? But the cooks have to complete the assignment. Decor is great and I feel that their customer service is amazing. But if your food is sub poor and cannot make a dish that is good for a first time customer. Questionable ?

First time going there enjoyed the Devore with the black seating area and the fish decor is community comfortable. Ordered teriyaki chicken ended up with some zucchini onion and broccoli mash up. Not a taste of teriyaki . Very dissatisfied and disappointed. Chicken was bland vegetables non salted.. if they pick up their quality and handle the assignment. It may be a great restaurant in Savannah. Reason for going was I went to Jason deli. And saw there restaurant and decided to give them a chance. Waste of 13 dollars. Sub poor!

Really sad they stopped doing AYCE sushi. It’s the only place to get decent sushi that isn’t Sakura. They can’t keep the chef to keep doing it. Which I understand but there’s no where else to get AYCE sushi
Simply delicious! HUGE menu with great dishes of every Asian variety. They can do takeout and serve boba tea as well. 100% will be eating here again.

I took my daughter to have an early dinner, we were the only customers in the restaurant. They only gave to my daughter two out of the 3 items (soup, pasta and a sushi roll) that she order, they never gave me my food (poke bowl). We had to go after 40 minutes waiting. They charged me for the whole amount even though I never got my food. Never again will attempt to go back to this restaurant.
