We always enjoy our brunches at B. Matthews and this was no exception. From a delicious little cheese board to southern fried chicken and sausage gravy on a biscuit, everything was great. Excellent service from a very sweet young woman who we could tell was raised right! Always a keeper and this was no exception.
Everything about this place is amazing. The food, the service, the location, the vibe, the ambience... I wouldn't change anything about this place.
The three course dinner was amazing, from presentation to taste. Excellent wines. Staff were great. Singer-songwriter presentation was fun. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and would do it again...discovered that B.Mathews is much more then a breakfast place!!
Our reservation was a 5, so no problem with seating, etc. Champagne was our server. Very pleasant, courteous and knowledgeable. Our only complaint on the food was the risotto which wasn't actually risotto. More vegetables on a bed of rice. Missing the creaminess of true risotto.
Sara, also bartender, was great, very pleasant and knowledgeable. Food was excellent- salmon, beets, Caesar salad, crab cakes.
The fried green tomatoes were the best I've ever had. The risotto with shrimp was very good however the gnocchi with shrimp was awful. The shrimp that came with the gnocchi tasted like dishwater. Not sure what happened there, that one batch was good and the other was terrible. This was also the worst gnocchi I've ever had. Bread pudding, cheesecake, and greens salad with goat cheese were all good. My specialty cocktail was alright but nothing amazing. Will definitely return again for the fried green tomatoes and to try other items on the menu.
One star for the hostess’s attitude. She ruined our morning by being unaccommodating, unsympathetic, and overall extremely difficult. Our server luckily was extremely nice but the hostess still made the entire experience unenjoyable. Would not return solely due to the way the hostess treated us. If you can’t be nice, don’t work as a hostess.
We came here for Sunday breakfast/brunch and holy crap! It was so good! The biscuits are worth the wait alone! The decor is so unique, you can feel the history in the walls but it’s also been updated to a modern feel. The menu choices are expansive and may cause stress on which delicious item to pick! I really enjoyed my Bay Street Scramble, and the rest of my party enjoyed their breakfasts too! Service was pretty good, not super fast but it was also super crowded. We got in without a reservation in under 20 minutes which was great! Highly recommend!
Great food with good prices. Service is excellent.

Whoever took my order was either prejudice or down right racist, she wasn't kind hearted at all. I only wish I was there in person to video her.

Atmosphere and service were wonderful. Low key and beautiful. I wouldn't sit in the booth area if you have back, hip, balance issues as they likely need to be replaced (unbalanced support, uncomfortable, etc).
I wish they had more GF options but wound up being intrigued by the sides so I wound up getting the cheese platter, broccollini, sweet potatoes gratin and tomato bisque. The cheese plate was a bit small for the price - 4 small lumps of cheese - and no veggie or other option was offered to replace the bread.
However, the rest - the soup, broccolini and the gratin (pictured)- was absolutely delicious. Perfectly flavored and seasoned. Just the right amount of food. Dreamed about having it again the next day.
Will say that my friends ordered salmon and burgers and all were overcooked so keep that in mind. Also, my friend ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes and said they were some of the best.
Dietary restrictions: Some GF and Vegan options. Not as many as hoped but enough to give you options.
All clearly marked on the menu with some additional alterations available on request.

We were really looking forward to this dinner. It turned out to be better than we expected. We had a fabulous time with great service and amazing food. We can't say enough good things about B Mathews
Nathaniel is always an attentive and wonderful server! We had him back to back nights as our server and he took care of us without any issues. Our food was phenomenal, as the new menu they rolled out a couple days ago, is incredible! We all tried new things on the menu and were blown away. The drinks and wine selection were great and we've now come to love a new Syrah that we must keep at home. The atmosphere is always beautiful and makes you feel comfortable, no matter if you're casual or more dressed up. The music is never too loud and volume of people talking is a pretty moderate level, given the small restaurant.
