We are exceptionally luck to have this bakery in our little neighborhood. The absolutely legendary, critically acclaimed, James Beard recognized baker, Cheryl Day and her equally talented husband Griff put out the most delicious baked goods and breads every weekend. Everyone who knows, knows you need to get here early to get some of the most delicious buttery biscuits in all of savannah. The quality is always exceptional which means the line is long, and always well worth it!! The only thing saltier then the crystals on top of the facaccia are the people who show up late and have to wait till next week for a glimpse of the highly coveted frangipan croissant. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, like walking into your mothers kitchen and seeing all her cute and familiar vintage. They take their time with every customer, and you often walk away feeling like a friend. There isn't a bad thing on the whole menu but you absolutely NEED a biscuit, even luckier is it'san everything biscuit with pepper jelly and cream cheese, and don't walk away without a chocolate chip cookie.

Nor happy that you were not open today. It was going to be my last visit since I cannot come on valentines day.
I’m not able to rate the food because I didn’t have any. The line was long and slow moving. There were no menus available to look at, even on the walls. So I didn’t even know what I would order if I made it to the counter. The atmosphere was lovely though.

They already have limited hours. They don't close until 3pm but they just ran out of cookies today at 12:15pm. She's selling the bakery... FML. The last day is February 14th so you better go get it while you still can. Every time we find something good, they end up selling out. I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles.

always a line, anytime I go they don't have cinnamon rolls. I won't go back though. The same attitude of the owner's response to this review is the attitude of the employee at the store. No, gracias. I am sure my business won't be missed, and I live pretty close to Perc, where they greet me with a smile, and do have cinnamon rolls for me.

I really would like to give this place a higher score, because I love their food. Unfortunately, this is the second time we have tried to go here when it is listed online as being open. Only to find a sign on the door stating it is closed. I appreciate that it is a small business, but please keep your business hours up-to-date online, even if it is an exception.

Best focaccia bread I’ve ever had. My husband, son and myself inhaled a loaf in the car that I bought for dinner!! Hot and fresh! Best chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had. This woman can bake!!! Don’t get me started on her biscuits! ❤️

Loved visiting after catching Ms. Day’s remarks on High on the Hog (Netflix documentary). Her work is so important to community building and making good food for locals, regulars, and passers-by. The bakery was busy, and she was selling her delicious wares. No complaints seeing an award winning baker do her thing! We enjoyed the old-fashioned cupcake and chocolate chip cookie, both complex, sweet, and with fun unexpected texture.Ignore the negative reviews. It’s clear she’s working a small, artisanal angle and will set her own hours and bake according to her talents and loyal customer base. Put some respect on those recipes and shop local! Positive vibes, fabulous baking, and community investment are priorities here.

Charming bakery with delicious baked goods with excellent customer service. Bought two muffins and two brownies for our five hour road trip and they were superb! Ms. Day is as sweet snd unassuming as she appears in the media. A “must do” while in Savannah!

Came by to check it out. Left with a Lemon and Lavender sugar cookie and powdered sugar star brownie. Both were delightful sweet treats but I preferred the brownie. It was large enough to divide into 4 perfect bites enjoyed over multiple days. The cookie had only a hint of Lemon and Lavender flavor but overall was a good sugar cookie.

The space is super fun, and the people are nice, but the menu is incredibly limited and constantly rotating so you’ll never know what you’re going to get (even if you get there early). While that works in a place that is open regular hours, they’re only open 10-3 on weekends. Just feels a little exclusive. Go into it with an open mind, and you should be good!

The cupcakes were the best, if you can get one, you can’t order online, the selection, hours/availability are so limited. I’ve given up on them, not worth the trip to be disappointed, I miss the old Back in the Day Bakery. Oh well
Best biscuit in town! The owner was there and she was so pleasant. I was delighted to finally meet her after reading her cook books.Baked with heart, that you can certainly taste. The charm of the shop invited a gentle crowd and we easily made a new friend inside. I really felt like I was going back to a safer, simpler time at back in the day bakery.

I've always wanted to go here and since the hours are limited, never had the time. This trip we made a point to go on a Sunday morning. It was only a short wait for service and we got coffee and blueberry muffin, which were excellent. But there was a very small selection of food available. Pizza, we got all of the muffins, rice treats, sausage sandwiches, banana bread and chocolate cake and few other things. They ran out of some things they told us. It was 10 am. I really thought they'd be more stocked. The shop is small and has some trinkets, spices and cute items to buy. There's only seating for maybe 12 people. It's an old building like all of Savannah. I was a little disappointed since it's a James Beard winning bakery and their cookbooks are fantastic. There was a lot of homeless people in the area, but no one bothered us. You can't walk from downtown Savannah, it's out of the main area of historical district.

Amazing, lovely and the cookies are very vintage. The taste reminds me of my childhood. The interesting item in addition to the bakery to sale. I.e. vintage black bride and groom cake toppers. As well as, the cookbook filled with recipes sold by the actual bakery herself. A MUST STOP !
