TERRIBLE SERVICE! I went to Driftaway for a pick up a to-go order, but the order I received was incorrect and I was overcharged. I politely asked for clarification to understand the total versus what I ordered, but the waitress responded by yelling at me in front of other customers and would not let me speak. Her behavior was completely unprofessional and unacceptable, crossing the line of basic customer service.
The manager at the counter was present during the incident but did not intervene or address the situation, which made the experience even more disappointing. Due to the mistreatment and confusion over my order, I left without taking the food. She kept yelling and yelling at me in front of all people.
I hope management takes this complaint seriously and ensures staff are trained to handle customers respectfully. No one should have to experience such rudeness when trying to clarify a simple order.

We have been going there since 2004 on and off and it's the first time that we were disappointed, both of us got the Key West Cuban and it tasted dry as it had been sitting under a heat lamp for some time!
The place is congenial and people are friendly.

Wow wow wow. This place made us feel so LOVED. My husband and I were traveling through the area with our dog, Shadow. Desperate for a good place to eat where our dog could be with us (rather than in the car), Google led us to this gem. Our server Michelle was wonderful and took great care of us. She even brought Shadow his own bowl of ICE water. The manager Joe stopped by our table to check in (and talk to Shadow). He ended up sitting with us and chatting about the area for a bit. The owners Robyn and Michelle stopped by as well! Miss Michelle gave Shadow some bacon while Robyn recommended a local pet store for us to visit before leaving the area. My Cuban sandwich was delicious! I just can’t say enough about the amazing people running this restaurant. Highly recommend!

We spent eight days on Tybee Island, and ventured into Savannah a few times. We pretty much ate out for every meal (vacation time!).
The Driftaway Cafe is one of those surprise gems that you run across every once in a while, if you are lucky! We were just looking for a place to grab a quick bite on the way to the airport and happened across it.
The restaurant is cute, quaint and clean. The service is friendly and fast. That’s not even the best part! Everyone ordered sandwiches from a Reuben to French dips and I ordered a salmon bacon BLT. Everyone said the food was great, including the delicious potato salad. I couldn’t believe the slab of salmon on my sandwich. I don’t know that I’ve ever had a larger serving even for dinner orders in the past. It was cooked perfectly and was excellent. That is something I will definitely be making at home. They also have a full bar.
Even though we were staying on Tybee, I would have driven over to eat at the Driftaway. Prices were great too!
I didn’t see anything not to love about this restaurant. We went to all kinds of restaurants on our vacation from bar food to high-end seafood, etc. If I were asked To recommend a good place to eat in this area, the Driftaway would be my first on my list.

Waterfall and outdoor decorations make our stay more relaxed & fun! Watching the birds flying around & listening to the music makes it fun & pleasing! The food was fantastic- different style green tomatoes, but great dish! The two old fashions were exactly what we needed & perfectly made/lovely!

The relaxed atmosphere and friendly service are great for going with friends or family. The appetizers are tasty and the sautéed raw salmon salad with green leaves and mango is delicious. I recommend this dish.

Always a great meal! Tuna is excellent. Their fish & chips has no equal anywhere in town. All the servers are friendly and courteous. Great value! I shouldn't tell y'all this ... it's getting hard enough to get a table. Enjoy!

Lauren was a great server! Was kinda surprised to see dinner available only after 5. Food was alright. Nothing super exciting but wasn't disappointed either. All things considered, it was fine for a post Wormsloe place but I assume the place is bumpin' on Saturday with live music

Let’s talk about the food first: it’s absolutely phenomenal. The Black n Blue Chicken Salad with blue cheese dressing was perfectly balanced and full of flavor, and the Shrimp & Grits were creamy and downright heavenly. The day's special Grouper Sandwich (your choice of grilled, blackened, or fried) was fresh, flaky, and cooked to perfection. Our appetizers, the Crab Dip and Fried Green Tomatoes, were a huge hit at our table—just the right amount of indulgence to start the meal off right. And the Parmesan Grouper with grilled shrimp over asparagus and red potatoes? A work of art. Every dish we tried was spot-on, from the seasoning to the presentation.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere here is something special. The back patio is a hidden gem—quiet, peaceful, and perfect for unwinding with a great meal. Inside, the decor is a feast for the eyes, with large beach murals, stained glass marine life, lush plants, and whimsical touches like gnomes and painted birds on the ceiling. It’s fun, artsy, and full of personality, creating a coastal vibe that’s both relaxed and inviting.
Whether you’re enjoying the cozy indoor seating, the lively bar area, or the tranquil patio, this is the kind of place that makes you want to stay awhile. It’s clear that every detail, from the menu to the ambiance, has been carefully curated to create a memorable experience.
If you’re looking for fresh, delicious food served with a side of charm, this is the spot. I can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu. Highly recommend!
