I'm going to be very honest here. The coffee I got (the drip) wasn't very good. It was kinda bitter, but some people may like that. I don't so it's subjective.
I also got the croissant, it was less than great a bit above good. It honestly tasted like a Kroger's one. But I ate it none the less. I'm used to really buttery and flakey croissants. This one was kinda bready with lots of holes.
The building is cool on the inside though. Really quiet, I noticed some students lounging around doing their work. Great spot for that. My experience may have just been with poor ordering, next time I'll try their house made foods

Very good spot. I came in specifically for some coffee and chai this time, and both were solid and well made. I did not actually eat anything during this visit, but everything on the menu and coming out to other tables looked really appetizing. The place has a nice, relaxed feel to it, and it is located right next door to the very busy and popular Public restaurant. Definitely a place I would come back to for a full meal next time.

I’m not sure what’s going on as of late but there seems to be an uptick with people making customers feel as if we’re interrupting employees at work.
This is what happened to me today and I’m deeply disappointed that I even spent money at this establishment.
My friend and I walked in the place after a house tour. No one had greeted us. Three young people were at the register chatting. No one was in line. My friend and I looked at the menu and I headed to the front of the register (there’s a path they want you to follow to order). The energy of the dirty blonde hair girl was not friendly. It was as if she didn’t want to take my order bc she was talking. After she took my order, she continued her conversation with her co-workers. Then my friend came up and gave her order. Same interaction.
We waited for our drinks and when mine was called, I barely heard the guy say my drink order (London Fog). Had I not paid attention, I wouldn’t have known where it was to pick up as none of the employees repeated the drink or looked at me to make sure someone could hear the order.
It’s unfortunate bc this would be a place I would frequent.

Terrible service and attention from that barista. 30 minutes for a hot chocolate that wasn't even hot... He messed up the order twice.

There is a quiet truth that the best coffee drinkers come to understand: the baristas make the coffee, and the coffee makes the day. At Franklin's Coffee, that truth is elevated into something almost philosophical.
Franklin’s is not simply a place where coffee is prepared—it is a place where craft is lived. The baristas here are not anonymous hands behind a counter; they are artists, storytellers, and evolving professionals whose lives and journeys subtly shape every cup they serve. Their attention is precise, their movements intentional, their respect for the ritual unmistakable.
I’ve known many of these baristas since my freshman year of college. I’ve watched them grow—not just in technical mastery, but as people. Careers have taken shape. Voices have sharpened. Confidence has settled into posture and presence. Though I am not a barista myself, I’ve had the privilege of growing alongside them, witnessing how time, discipline, and care refine both person and practice.
The coffee at Franklin’s reflects that evolution. It is layered, expressive, and unpretentious in its excellence. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is careless. Each cup feels like the result of lived experience—of repetition, failure, refinement, and finally, fluency. This is coffee made by people who understand that consistency is not monotony, but devotion.
There is something quietly avant-garde about Franklin’s. Not loud. Not performative. But deeply intentional. It resists spectacle in favor of substance. It trusts that excellence will be noticed without announcement. In a city like Savannah—where art, history, and human connection matter—Franklin’s feels exactly right.
This is a place where mornings are recalibrated and afternoons steadied. Where conversations happen naturally. Where growth is not marketed, but embodied.
Franklin’s Coffee is not defined by trend or novelty. It is defined by people who show up, evolve, and pour themselves—quite literally—into their craft. And that is what makes it extraordinary.

Amazing Horchata iced coffee
For drinks, we ordered one iced horchata late and one hot chai latte. For food, we got an almond croissant and carrot cake cupcake, which came with blood orange icing.
The drinks were okay, nothing to write home about. There are stronger coffee/tea options in the area. That said, the pastries were *phenomenal*. Would come back for the bakery items alone.
Re: service and environment. The shop is teeny with not very much room to move around or wait for your oder. There's a small row of counter chairs and then a few small tables outside.
Service was great, though. The staff was friendly (a gentleman whose name I never got even made my latte again before I could try it, just because he remember he'd forgotten an ingredient). Order came out quickly. Would return.

Super mid food and coffee. Not worth the price but atmosphere and service is great. We didn’t wait long and there is nice outdoor seating. Overall food and coffee is incredibly underwhelming compared to other places in Savannah.

Best atmosphere many choices
Very disappointed in the coffee. Lattes tasted like sugar. Couldn’t taste any espresso. Saw so many recs for this place and didn’t live up to expectations. Barista was nice and cool atmosphere.

Love this place. I couldn’t decide what to order so Sean helped make a special latte for me. If you want a sweet treat, order the lil JJ special. Definitely won’t disappoint. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in town.

Love this coffee shop! Had the BEST service by Sean, he’s great. He made us an original latte… if you see him ask for the lil JJ special, it’s delicious. Highly recommend stopping here.
