When we initially went in, we were told that it would be an hour and 15 minute wait. We came back after that time had gone by, and we were told that a table was still unavailable. The hostess up front was pretty rude while telling us though, she didn’t even look up to speak to us and had a nasty tone. We only stayed because we waited so long and other restaurants nearby were crowded. The food was really good but it was a bit cold as if it had been sitting out a while. Our servers (we had 3 different ones) were very inattentive and seemed to rush us while ordering. We asked one of them for disposable napkins and it took her about 15 minutes to get us some, which was ridiculous since she got them from the bar and we were seated in front of the bar. The atmosphere was nice but the servers seemed very disorganized. We likely won’t be returning.

Food is always good here and I love the ambiance of the original stained glass. Some of the furniture could use some upkeep and I'm not sure about the animal print carpet, though. Service today wasn't as good as normal. The egg was left off my avocado toast. My server initially said it didn't come with that but when I asked to see the menu again, she apologized and had them make me an egg. Unfortunately, it wasn't served on the toast as advertised, but was brought to me on a separate plate for me to make myself. That was disappointing. The tea is always great.

We absolutely loved enjoying tea here! I highly recommend going to SCAD first and doing the show because you appreciate the history of the Gryphon more (SCAD now owns the Gryphon). Our server was incredible and so attentive without being overbearing, the food was incredible, and it was reasonably priced! Must go if you’re in the area.

A nice tea house run by SCAD and all the staff are students. Enjoyed a small meal and delicious tea in this historic setting.

My favorite place in Savannah! Great for brunch and afternoon tea. If you like a cozy, warm atmosphere in a 1920s apothecary this is the place for you!

Lovely place, beautifully decorated, friendly staff and tasty food. I wish they had more vegetarian options. But other than that, it exceeded my expectations.

My husband and I went to Gryphon the other weekend and left with mixed feelings:

· The interior is cute.
· While the people overall were nice, our server was not attentive at all. We heard other tables get a whole spiel about the history of the place and everything, which sounded interesting from what we could hear, but our server did not share anything with us. He did not check in with us at all during the meal, which was unfortunate as we were desperate for water and had to flag down a different server.
· Some food was great, other food was not.
· And lastly my husband, who almost never gets upset, spent the entire ride home ranting about Gryphon being a scam.

We ordered the quiche of the day, a matcha lavender latter, and an afternoon tea. The quiche was absolutely delicious and the highlight of our meal. The matcha latte, unfortunately, was nearly impossible to drink because of how sweet it was – I like my matcha sweetened, but this felt more like getting a cavity with each sip. The afternoon tea was fine – we enjoyed the sandwiches and scones, but the desserts were also overwhelming sweet.

Regarding the afternoon tea though, the pricing and portions felt like a scam. While we recognized that it was $31/person, we ordered two meals – one for each of us. I still suspected we might be charged $62 for the afternoon tea due to the wording on the menu, until I saw both a table of 1 and a table of 3 receive the exact same tea tower as us, quantity and all. I thought, “there’s no way the exact same tea tower will cost $31 for one table, $62 for us, and $93 for a table of three. Each table would be paying more while each person seated would get less food. That would be ridiculous.” Well…that’s exactly what they do.

I’ve gone to afternoon teas before, but every time there were multiple people we either received a) a larger tower or b) each person received their own tower. I agree with my husband – Gryphon felt like a scam.
