Great sushi and great grill food as well. The service can get pretty slow as it seems the kitchen and sushi staff are not big enough to keep up with demand on busy nights. Some of the servers are great, like Duo!

Hirano’s wasn’t ever the best but it’s decent. I’d go every so often for lunch with coworkers or dinner with my partner. Tonight we ordered takeout which included gyoza and the accompanying sauce. After eating a few pieces of the gyoza we noticed what looked like a congealed rim around the bottom of the sauce cup. To our horror, upon further inspection it appeared to be a hairband drenched in sauce. I went back to speak with someone. After some back and forth with the guy at the front and requesting my money back I was asked to speak to the owner over by the sushi bar. As I came around he stated their “sauce guy” doesn’t have long hair so it couldn’t possibly be their fault and I must be lying. There was a few more minutes of discourse and then I walked out after letting them know that I’d be writing this review. Losing a regular customer over the price of 2 meals was definitely a choice. I hope no one else has to go through this situation because clearly they can do no wrong and won’t make good on an error of their own doing.
Edit: The owner response to my complaint is a bit misleading. I wasn’t offered a refund on the gyoza, I was asked by the guy up front if that’s how I wanted the issue rectified. He doesn’t have the power to process a refund, he had to go check with a lady in the back. Either way no, I didn’t want a refund on the gyoza. The hairband in my meal ruined the whole thing in my mind and my partners so it seemed appropriate to me that I would be refunded on account of it being their issue. I asked for a refund on the meal, it was not “demanded”. Furthermore, there was no mention of bringing the meal back for a full refund. I live just down the road and would have happily obliged to bring it back to him. The truth is the owner never intended on making the situation right because he didn’t believe it was their fault. That’s his choice. My only recourse is this review and never lowering my standards for convenience when it comes to Japanese food again.

We went for lunch and tried the teriyaki hibachi and steak hibachi. Lunch portion was perfect. Very good price as well.
Vegetarian options: We will try Sushi specials next time and appetizers

Kid-friendliness: Kids love watching them make sushi and cook hibachi.

Extremely slow service. Brought out food at wildly different times. Was very dismissive when we asked where our food was. The dish they brought out before everything was not hot anymore when served like 30 minutes before any of the sushi the other 3 of us at the table ordered. When that came out it was over a span of 10-15 minutes.

Love this place,been eating at Hiranos since 1998,lol. Food is excellent and hasn't charged since my first time. Service is aa good as it can be and the atmosphere is good too. My only two issues I have is sometimes nobody answers the phone.Tried to call in a few pick up orders at times and nobody will pick up the phone.Also one of my favorites they took off the menu,which the appetizer fried calamari. Best fried calamari in Savannah,well,not now since they don't have it anymore. But overall awesome and great tasting food. I had teriyaki chicken w/ steak and fried rice with veggies and house salad w/ ginger dressing.
