Stopped in for some Guinness the day before St. Patrick's Day. Crowded but that was to be expected. Enjoyed a cool one (or too). Went back later and got a pizza. Bought a t-shirt for my sister-in-law who is a McDonough. Good time.
Nice friendly environment but we were disappointed with bar food options in the middle of a Saturday afternoon: Out of pizza (cheese), no calamari, no baked potato skins. My husband and our friends thoroughly enjoyed the Rueben egg rolls so maybe it was good they were out of other options?
My friends and I went here while visiting Savannah. The karaoke was so fun, everyone was great! Would go back here in a second.
I wouldn’t come back here. This place was dirty and smells. We stopped here during a pub crawl. They didn’t know how to make any shots/drinks. We ordered a birthday shot, and they said they couldn’t make it, so we ordered a pineapple upside down instead and it was the worst shot I’ve ever had in my life. Just straight vodka. I ordered a margarita too and couldn’t even drink it cuz it was so strong. $54 wasted.
We were doing the Boo y’all comedy ghost bus tour and stopped at McDonough’s for a quick drink and bathroom break. We had 10 minutes. After multiple knocks and a long wait, out come employee Nick and his also employee lady friend. I’m all for fun, but if you want to “do it” at work please go out back rather than keeping paying customers waiting outside the ladies room while you do your nasty. Ugh. ??
Ladies, do not ever go here if you value your safety!! Last night my friends and I were harassed by the bartender, Richard. He was visibly drunk. He wouldn't take our food or drink orders, which was perhaps a blessing in disguise, but would immediately take men's who walked in after us. He did not say that were too drunk or that we needed to leave, but kept saying we had to "wait our turn." We were never served. He told us were "old AF." It was Memorial Day. He told me it was a rough night for him so we shouldn't be celebrating, we should be mourning fallen soldiers, especially those we lose on US soil due to mental health issues, like suicide. I have empathy for veterans, but as a suicide loss survivor myself, I find this kind of manipulation to be extremely troublesome and personally upsetting. We were insulted and we were made to feel incredibly unsafe.
We were looking for something fun to do late night and stumbled across this place. Great karaoke. Some of the regulars really know how to sing. The dj was cool. We had a lot of fun.
Stopped in here while doing a hop off from a trolly tour. Nice hometown bar feel. Simple, and effecient. Good selection of liquor and ice-cold beer. I had a crown-n-coke ($8). It hit the spot before hopping back on the trolly.
Fun bar! Fun staff! Good pours! Tasty food! They make you feel like a regular! Marjalo you made our day!
Wherever my wife and I travel, we always hope to find a "home base" so to speak. A bar or pub that we feel comfortable in. McDonough's was the place for us. All of the bartenders we encountered were all friendly and always made us feel like we were at our hometown bar. Service was great and we were never without a drink. Food and drink prices were very fair. Especially considering that we were in a tourist town. We spent quite of bit of time here over 3 days.

Typical, informal as can be, neighborhood bar with plenty of locals, tourists and interesting characters to talk to.
Kinda just average overall. Food was ok. Service a little slow but ok. Nothing stuck out as anything that we felt we wanted to go back for again.
People LOVE this place and have for ages... I am unfortunately not one of them. It's simply not my scene. People say this has the best karaoke in Savannah... maybe that's true, but I would rather go to Bay Street Blues, The Rail... anywhere else for karaoke and drinks.
We have a small group of us, mostly Miami Dolphins fans, that enjoy that atmosphere, good food and real great service. They take care of us.
Small pub but they had good drinks, good service, and good food. Came here to watch a game. The bartenders/servers were busy but super nice and attentive. Our game went into double overtime but they never rushed us to leave. We had beer, bourbon, and a mixed shot to drink and everything was top notch. And The fried mushrooms app were to die for. Only pit fall was the karaoke which sounded like they were having fun for them to me sound like drunk people screaming lyrics to popular songs. But you cant blame bad singers on the bar. Lol. All in all a good pub.
