Service was great! Fried green tomatoes yummy. Spinach & sausage dip with pretzel. Pretzel wasn’t warm, I fact I nearly broke my tooth on it. A few pieces were hard as a ROCK. Very disappointing. Butternut squash soup and lobster bisque were good. Friends are on their way to Savannah, I would advise them to choose another place.

Savannah is our pit stop between Florida and Greenville, SC. 6 times in last 8 months we have gone through there, the first time we happened upon River House Seafood. Second time, we had definite plans and beelined straight there. During the great Ice/Snowstorm of 2026 I might add. We would not be deterred.
Its old original brick ambiance charmed us, service staff were TOP NOTCH and know their food.
Both times, we chose the Seafood Pasta and weren't disappointed. Plentiful bowl of fettucine, with a white sauce with wine and delicate seasoning. Stars of the show... large, perfectly cooked shrimp and sea scallops. I did have my eye on the Shrimp and Grits and Blackened Flounder entrees.... but that Pasta won. Second time in, we added an appetizer of Local Blue Crab Dip, a glass of wine and a Peach Margarita. The Crab Dip with fresh fried flour tortillas was an empty bowl within a few minutes. We would have licked it clean too, except our southern genteelness and my Grandma rolling in her grave stopped us. It was all to die for. AND we were quite prepared for this as our last meal knowing we had to navigate the snow and ice to get back to our hotel. But we would die happy with tummies full and satisfied.

My wife and I stopped by River House Seafood this past Friday. We didn't have a reservation, but to our surprise, we were able to walk right up and get a table immediately—a huge plus for a Friday night.
I started with the Chatham Artillery Punch (a classic!) and later had a Millionaire’s Coffee. For my entrée, I ordered the Grouper Oscar, which was excellent, and the French Onion soup. The soup was a highlight—great flavor and the cheese was especially melty.
My wife had the Purple Crab Salad, which she enjoyed. She also ordered the Butternut Squash soup; while the flavor was good, it came out warm rather than hot, which was the only slight miss of the evening.
Overall, a great experience with solid food and drinks. We’ll definitely be back.

Our server was downright obsequious and the food was cooked to perfection. I've never had better lobster tail. And the deserts are a must.

We arrived early for our reservation, but were seated immediately. Diverse menu with local favorites. We had the fried green tomatoes. Very good. The harvest salad and onion soup also well prepared. I enjoyed the blackened mahi, large filet with orzo. Slightly too spicy, Cajun seasoning, for me, but maybe not for most. Busy Sat. Night, we waited longer than usual for our main course. Overall good experience and we plan to return to explore more items on the menu🍤🥰

Food came out very quickly and was good. I had scallops and shrimp over cheesy pasta. Nice sized serving, plenty of seafood. Husband had fried oysters po' boy which he said was good, too. The side order of broccoli was just enough, but was just a bit undercooked. Service was pleasant and timely. This was our second visit and we loved it both times. BTW there is elevator access to the restaurant from Bay St.
