Nice laid back bar with great service and a classic dive bar vibe and I mean that in a good way. Music was pumped out at a good volume and a decent mix. None of the draft beers were available on my visit but I’m not holding that against them as there was obviously an issue somewhere.

Took a trip up from Tampa to Savannah and stumbled across this dive bar downtown. The wife and I had a great time laughing at all the bras hanging up on the ceiling upstairs and the younger crowd singing karaoke. Reminded us of the dive bars we used to go to when we were younger. The staff was so friendly and funny. The drinks - cheap but strong.

Have been to many bars around the world. This place is my favorite. From the atmosphere, to the drinks, to the music (Emo Wednesdays are the best)…this one is truly special. Ask for Mikie!

This review is meant for the customers both local and visiting, and the management of Rogue Water Bar in downtown Savannah. My friend (23 years old) and I (22 years old) went out downtown Saturday, April 29, 2023. At approximately midnight, we made our way to Rogue Water Bar. A bar that we have both been to numerous times over the last year and have given our business to since we are locals in Savannah. We have never had any issues with the staff at this bar or any bar downtown. We walked into the bar, it did not seem busy, and no one was in line. We walked up to the bouncer with our IDs out and ready to show him. My friend (23 years old) hands him her ID first, he looks at it for about 5 seconds, turns it over, hands it back to her, and says I need another form of ID (her ID is not expired either). My friend complies and proceeds to pull out the only other forms of ID that have her full name and/or picture on them, her Debit card, and her college student ID. He does not look at them and rejects them immediately. My friend respectfully asks what is wrong with her ID and he says in a rather cocky way that they are fake IDs. My friend and I are completely shocked, and she calmly states that it is her real ID, which was sent to her in the mail from the DMV. He then proceeds to yell over us, threatens to call the police on us, and have us arrested for trespassing and identity fraud. Mind you, he has not looked at my ID at all at this point. He never uses a black light on her ID, scans it, bends it, or asks his manager. While this happens, a group of intoxicated men enter the bar and begin berating my friend and me. They have no idea what the situation is, they have not looked at her ID, and honestly, they have no right or authority to be berating us on this issue. The bouncer, who is a man who is supposed to protect the customers of the bar, a man who is supposed to be protecting the women of this bar, allowed this group of intoxicated men to berate, humiliate, and make us extremely uncomfortable all while they are in our faces at the entrance of the bar. The bouncer allowed this to happen for several minutes, while also yelling at us. We are two small stature, LEGAL young women, being ganged up on by a bouncer and 2-3 grown men in a place of business. This is unacceptable. We leave the bar extremely uncomfortable, upset, humiliated, and I am in tears. We immediately approached 3 police officers, showed them her ID, and explained the situation. They used their black light to check it, bent it, scratched it, looked at all the information, checked the picture, and even scanned them. They confirmed it is a valid legal Georgia License. That night we continued to go to the other bars downtown including The Grove, The Social, The Rail, Boomey's, Wet Willies, and Whitakers and did not have a single problem. We even explained what happened to some of the bouncers because we were so shaken up. We both have complete respect for the staff at the bars downtown including the bouncers. I also understand that bouncers have every right to deny you entry into their bar. I just believe that this situation could have been handled a lot more professionally. I also believe that Rogue Water Bar should employ a bouncer who can tell the difference between a fake and a legal Georgia License. We will NEVER ever go to Rogue Water or recommend this bar to friends, family, or others visiting from out of town. The rudeness and unprofessionalism were astonishing. There are plenty of great bars downtown, don't waste your time or money at this one.
