Don’t usually leave reviews but I got the coffee and to me it literally was undrinkable

As a local business, I love getting my lunch from the Bean. The staff is amazing- friendly, kind and speedy. The food is fantastic- fresh, local and reasonably priced. And you always run into someone you know! Great place for community.

I don’t know what’s going on at the bean, but I’m tired of the disrespect. I’ve let a lot slide up until this point, but now I have to say something. I’ve been going here for over a decade and the service has never been so poor. I don’t even hang out there anymore, but even my experience of placing Togo and pickup orders has been extremely subpar. For one, why are the baristas acting like catty high schoolers. The person in front of me there all smiles and friendly. Then I get to the front and they’re frowning and acting upset. I don’t bother these people. Why do I get the attitude? It feels like some sort of racial tension or something. That’s my only explanation. They’ve gone as far as ignoring me and taking the order of the person I’m with, but the latest issues seem to be the final straw for me. I’ve been vegan for a decade and this is a place that purports to accommodate that, but the baristas have repeatedly given me non vegan items my past few visits. First it was the vegan breakfast burrito, and I should have just stopped going there then, but I know people make mistakes so I gave them grace, but today was a bridge too far. I ordered a cold brew with oat milk, and the barista made it with whole milk, luckily she labeled it, so I just asked if she could fix it. Instead of getting a new cup she just tossed the old coffee out and made the new one in the same cup. I don’t even think she rinsed it out. Disgusting. Terribly disrespectful as well. I can no longer spend my hard earned money here, and would suggest that any other black people in the area do the same.

Atmosphere is nice & right next to the park. I did not like my matcha @ all, it tasted very bland & watery. I liked the bread though

Very cool vibe in here. They host hardcore and punk shows which is really cool. But the coffee here is pretty mid not gonna lie but haven’t tried any other drinks. Also there prices are the best in the city. A medium coffee is like $3.80

Love this place. They have always been extremely understanding and kind knowing I have a severe allergy. They did mess it up once, but instantly made it right and were very apologetic. Of the 100 times being here 99 visits were top notch! Love their coffee and they always have vegan options, which I go to as someone with a deadly milk/egg allergy. Most staff here are also super cool. Prices are very reasonable!!! ♥️

The worst Americano. It was like adding a pinch of coffee to 8 oz of water. It was more like tea. the coffee was extremely bad🤮🤮

“The best cafés aren’t just places to eat. They create energy you carry with you.” Brunch at Sentient Bean felt like an adventure. The space buzzes with positive energy—happy customers, great coffee and tea, and food that feels both thoughtful and satisfying. My family adored the vegan pancakes, light and flavorful, the kind you order once and immediately consider a second round. Finding a table can be a challenge—it’s seat-yourself, and demand is high—but once you’re settled, the vibe makes it worth the wait. The vegan tofu scramble tacos were clean and fresh, though they could benefit from a hot sauce or a plant-based sausage to add depth. Still, between the smoothies, the coffee, and the atmosphere, Sentient Bean won us over. It’s the kind of place we’ll gladly return to whenever we’re back in Savannah.
