Strange bird indeed 🤔
We took a seat and ordered our drinks, we waited for our server to come back to put our food order in but she didn't! After 20 minutes we had to catch the eye of the male server who was obviously new. He took our order then it was obvious after other people got their food he hadn't put ours in. Nobody told us but from the servers talking amongst themselves you could tell what had happened. We didn't mind so much because we could tell he was new and these things happen. We received our side of potatos and that was it for 15 mins until our full order came out. No apology, nothing.
Damn ......I wanted to love this place but the chicken sandwich was truly awful! Dripping with oil, no chicken taste and the toppings on it just didn't work. One of the worst things I've eaten. I can't even explain how disgusting it was. My husband had the smokehouse plate and said it was good but since we were on a date night it made him feel bad my meal was disgusting. Really ruined our night.
Then came the bill.....$75....$75? They don't tell you the side of potatoes are $8! $8 for essentially 1 potato that we got as a starter ( complete joke) I'm all for paying good money for good food but I can't help feeling this was an absolute rip off. It's a diner, nothing more and to pay those prices was disgraceful.
It's a cute place. Queso was delicious! But wow I am surprised at the good reviews because this was bad. Bad service, bad food, bad price!
I felt sorry for the new guy he was obviously doing his best if only the woman server had helped him instead of spending 20 mins filling containers instead of taking our order.

First impressions were pretty good. Had read the positive reviews so was looking forward to eating there. The space itself is cool, a retro diner with a handful of booths and counter seating. The service started well, glasses of water as soon as we sat down. We ordered a Coke and a beer and asked for a little more time to look through the menu. We waited another 20 minutes to be asked if we were ready and only after we caught the attention of one of the servers. Having ordered the chicken sandwich and pork smokehouse plate we waited some more. And waited. The server who took our order eventually came back over, said that there had been a mistake in submitting it and that it would be a little while longer. We didn't mind too much as the diner vibe was pretty cool. However, when the food arrived the chicken was greasy and over cooked. The pork was good but over powered by the pickled carrots and cabbage. We were also given a side of potatoes. Those were decent if a little overcooked. The biggest surprise came with the bill. Over $70 for 2 people. $8 for a side of potatoes and $14 for a piece of over cooked chicken with mayo in a bun. We paid, left and won't be back. Hugely disappointing.

Newest find we made was this fantastic, affordable, delicious, quaint restaurant with tacos (my fav was chicken tinga, 2 = mojo pork, out of this world and fantastic sandwiches (Cubano off menu special - amazing) and Nanur pudding - banana pudding - type dessert.

Soooo yummy oh my goodness! Breath of fresh air with great food! Pick 3 tacos were delicious really loved the chicken and pork!
Such a great spot. Visited for first time yesterday. The GA Shrimp Aguachile was incredible. Also ordered 3 tacos - the beef picadillo and GA Shrimp were my favorite. This place became an instant staple for me. I'll be back often.

DELISH! This was a spot recommended by a friend of a friend who adores Savannah. Strange Bird is on her top 5 faves - and I totally see why! We did take-out, and the food held well during transport. Get anything on the menu with shrimp - you won't be disappointed! Loved the crispy rice and pork tacos. I wish we stayed longer in Savannah. I'd definitely try their entire menu!

As a native of Savannah, I try to give an honest take on our area restaurants. Unfortunately, Strange Bird’s efforts fall well below the standard for our area. I love the concept, but the many menu items we tried were equally awful. Salads are awful. Chicken flavor is poor and overcooked. Shrimp was uneditable. Service is very slow. All 5 of us came to this same conclusion. I wish the owners the best, but this was an awful experience and we can’t recommend this one. This is a 1/1 visit for us.

I mean the location is so cool! 😎 Really a rare space and architectural gem in Savannah. That really added to the experience and the wait staff were super sweet and helpful. I do think the food itself could keep pushing in their ambition and vision for what they are trying to do. If the chef keeps tweaking the menu and striving a little bit more, then it will easily be in the tops with the restaurant scene here in SAV.

Extremely good food, based upon a traditional dish with a very exciting and flavorful modern twist. Definitely recommend this place for a quick bite in the Savannah area.

Although it was extremely packed inside, the food overall wasn't terrible. Had a lot of potential with the sauces, but the cabbage they put on almost every single item overpowers all of the dishes. It makes them all taste the same. The cabbage is like what you put on pupusas. It made our salad, quesadillas, and burritos super soggy. It's a shame as the flavors were there, but that addition made it really hard to enjoy for how expensive it was.
