We dined last evening at The 5 Spot in Sandfly. We had their shrimp and grits - very delicious - lots of shrimp and lots of different cheeses. Our server - Maya - was wonderful. She did a good job of taking care of us; checking in on us just the correct amount. Very good food, service and atmosphere!!!

I don't usually trash restaurants but this place was not good. First, the menu didn't match what was actually available. Was a brunch menu but they were serving regular lunch. They advertised fresh house-made chips but they were clearly store bought and very stale. My hamburger tasted ok, but it wasn't great and the bun was not good - also, cooked on a dirty grill so it was caked with pieces of old char. Wife's salad was terrible with what appeared to be chopped and formed meat, not real steak. We got unsweet tea, which was actually not bad but it came in small glasses and no refills were offered. I got cheese grits and they might have been the weirdest grits I ever ate - for one thing they were VERY dry. I complained about them to my wife but ate ever bite so I guess they ended up being good, just not normal. Kind of like eating flavored masa dough.Parking: Not their fault, but the parking lot had a weird layout and not easy to get in or out. Also, limited space.

First time trying the food here. Really nice looking place, staff was super nice. There was some confusion for this take out order. However, Genny was polite, kind and attentive. She got the question I had answered and took care of us immediately. Thank you so much for the pleasant experience! She may be new but already deserves a raise.

Cozy place with delicious food. The three plates that we ordered were really good and tasty. The fried chicken fully recommends it. The service was amazing. You must try this place.

The 5 Spot in Sandfly was recommended to us. We were a party of three with 2 of us celebrating birthdays. Our wait was about 15 minutes, which was fine, until I noticed there were several tables inside and out that were empty. We started off the fried green tomatoes, and the waitress said there were 5 on the plate. When the plate arrived, there was only 4, and were the size of a silver dollar, not the size we expected. The 4 together were the size of most tomatoes I have seen. They were a little overcooked as the outside edges were hard. 2 of us ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, and collard greens. When the plates arrived the meatloaf was on top of the collard greens and mashed potatoes. Personally, I like my food separated on my plate, not on top of one another. After I separated the vegetables from the meatloaf, the meal was enjoyable but not great. The collards were the best part of the meal. Our friend ordered the BLT with green tomatoes. The bread was soggy, the bacon was not crisp as she requested, tons of fries to fill the plate, and she was disappointed with her meal too. We had heard such good things about the 5 Spot in Sandfly. This experience was enough for us and we will not be returning. On another note we so enjoyed our tour of Isle of Hope. A beautiful place.Parking: Parking is available. Restaurant is located in a busy location and is somewhat difficult to find a parking space.Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant was wheelchair accessible.

Visited for the first time yesterday and will definitely be back. Chase (I think that was their name) was our server and excellent. Food was delicious and quick, everyone friendly. Every aspect of our food was well-executed and flavorful. Would visit here again and again. I’m sitting here eating my leftovers and they’re just as great as they were yesterday. Even the sweet potato fries and ranch taste great- as if these people put effort into everything they make (as it should be.) Would recommend a hundred times over!

Nice enough place but found rgev good alternately bland and overly salted. The chicken salad claims apple pecans, lemon zest cumin along with pecan and apple. Couldn't detect any of it. Cheese grits, on the other hand, were so cheesy and salty it was hard to taste grits.
Food and service were Great!
