So a dear friend of mine was raving about this place so naturally I was excited to check it out! I was told that they were known for their burgers so I was very excited to try it out. Unfortunately I was disappointed! The burger was extremely average, and the fries in my opinion weren't that great either. The meat was very tasteless and unenjoyable to me. I will more than likely try Howlin Hound again, because it has won a few awards for its burgers. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe I came on an off day. But all in all, I wasn't impressed. You're welcome, and you can thank me later!

Oh my goodness I'll just come out and say it this is one of the absolute worst places that I've ever eaten at. It wasn't the service no one was rude or anything it was the food plain and simple!! The Philly Cheesesteak taste like it had been sitting for hours the bread was stale and the chicken tasted like rubber. I understand that sometimes restaurants have bad days just like people however this was completely unacceptable. I wouldn't feed my cat what I ate , the chef here was voted the top chef of 2019 I demand a recount!!

Great food. Comfortable environment. Friendly service. This was our first time. Forgot to take pictures. I got the gyro and it was amazing. Would absolutely recommend taking a trip here to eat. They also have a lunch menu served anytime.

Really good food! Each time I've been to the hound i've been pleased. Shout out to Yelp for the find, and although it is right beside my school it took us about a year to finally come try them out! The first time I went I failed to realize that you order first and then sit down so I didn't have much time to study the menu before making my decision so I chose the first thing that caught my eye. I got the Charleston Chicken Sandwich which included chicken (obviously), pimento cheese, coleslaw, pickles and bacon and it was delicious! A very well crafted chicken sandwich if I could say so myself. My friend got their philly cheese steak and that s***** looked impressive. He was pleased as well. Upon leaving I saw a plaque where they were awarded 2019 best burger in Savannah from Eat It and Like It, so I made sure i ordered the burger the next time I went. So today I ordered the Brie Cheese and Bacon Burger. I love brie cheese and i love bacon so this was just the holy matrimony for me. It had sauteed red onions, lettuce, tomato, and a balsamic vinegar drizzle on it. It was great, however for all that jazz I was expecting to be blown away, and it didnt blow me away. It was delicious, creative, beautiful, and huge, but it was lacking the slap in the face that I wanted. I did leave stuffed though so thats a plus. The burger was a little on the dry side as well even though I asked for medium, it was more medium well if not well done in most areas. Howlin would get all 5 for their creative, wide spread menu, however I've had better burgers. May have just been an off day but i feel like it could've been a little better. The food is also a tad pricey for the area which also throws them a kink in the plan.

I've been to The Howling Hound several times and have always enjoyed great food and good service. However, last night's dinner was not good at all. The chicken was undercooked and had a rubbery texture. I've had this dish before at the restaurant and it was delicious. That was not the case last night. Also, the service was extremely slow-only two servers working the entire restaurant during dinner hour. Last but not least, they had the ceiling fans going full blast and most if the patrons were sitting in their overcoats because it was so chilly with the breeze from the fans. When we asked the waitress if the fans could be turned off, we were told that a ladder was needed to reach the pull chain and they couldn't get to it since they were busy. We were very disappointed and probably won't be back.

Really good food, but not a huge fan of the "order at the counter" concept that they now have. It also appears that the customers are expected to clear their own tables after eating, despite the tip "opportunity" that is very prominent when ordering. (They do at least bring your food to your table)

Consistently good food and consistently good service. Parking is easy as the lot is pretty big. The bathrooms may be the tiniest bathrooms I've ever seen anywhere in my entire life. Don't try to turn around in there, you have to squeeze out sideways. Lol. The fajitas here usually have the correct balance of meat versus vegetables versus fixings.

I encountered this hole in the wall when my dad came to visit. It was definitely not what I expected when I walked in. It has a walk up counter to order but your food is brought to you. The kitchen is open with a glass in front so you can watch everything get cooked right before your eyes. It is sort of a fast food joint but good food, not like a normal fast food place. It was interesting to see them as a fast food sit down restaurant with a drive-thru. They also own Castaways more Sandfly. Their menu was quite catchy with multiple sandwiches that caught my eye, along with some intriguing specials. I went with the regular Philly cheesesteak this time. It was nothing special. It was described to be rib-eye and a tasty home made cheese sauce over it but I didn't see any of that. If it was on it they needed to add more because it was not cheesy. The meat was blan to me. Just tasted like a common cheesesteak. It honestly tasted like pre-shaven frozen steak I could get at Kroger. It was not bad by any means, just not amazing. You won't be sad eating it. But the fries are something else! The best thick steak fries I've had. Definitely a must! My dad got the brisket Philly which is highly recommended. You can taste the smoke and it definitely outdoes the Joey. Good smoke flavor.

It started to rain at the Isle of Hope Art and Music Fest so we powered through the fest and decided to leave the fest and seek shelter indoors for some food. I've heard about Howlin' Hound (HH) from a friend and since then it's been on my hit list, so we decided to check it out. I was surprised to find out that it was located in the same shopping center as Gottlieb's Bakery, one of my favorite bakeries that I frequent, but in their own stand alone building by the street. How did I not notice it before? - Parking - Private lot. - Vibe - HH is a fast food set up, where you order your food at the counter, pay and sit down. They give you a number for your order, but they do bring you your food when it's ready. The dining area is an open space, so they see you easily. Don't let the fast food set up fool you though, their food is great! Their vibe is a bit of country, but then a bit chic, I guess? Oddly, the chairs are gold, very wedding/banquet-esque, which, there is nothing wrong with that, but visually, it was just different, but the food quickly diverted my attention. The eats were YUM! - TLC - The lady working at the counter that day was an absolute sweetheart. Super helpful with recommendations and just like a momma, ya know? She was just really sweet and patient, granting our every requests. - Eats / Refreshments - Drinks - They have the usual fountain drinks and some lemonade in its own container. Lobster Grilled Cheese, Tomato Soup and Salad - I love lobster so when I saw Lobster Grilled Cheese, I was sold and the Tomato Soup sounded just right for the rainy day. The bread on the sandwich was perfectly fried on the pan, that buttery and crunchy crust, but the soft interior. My only critique would be that the lobster meat and the cheese were not evenly spread on the sandwich. Perhaps that's just a bit of my OCD shining through, I just dipped the naked bread parts in the soup, but perhaps that's the Chef's intention? The tomato soup was amazing, creamy with small chunks of tomato. The salad portion was a good size that consisted of romaine lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced cucumbers crumbled feta cheese topped with fresh red onion rings. It comes with a house made Balsamic salad dressing which was great. Overall, the portion for this dish is generous and very filling! Nashville Sandwich (Special of the Day) - My husband ordered this one, which seemed like a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. I got a nibble of the fried chicken and it was well seasoned and had a nice crunch. He chose fries with his meal and let me tell ya, these fries were awesome and I'm not really a fry person, but they could make me one if all fries were as delicious like that (refer to pic)! The only way I can explain it is that their fries are a cross between potato wedges and curly fries. I don't know what kind of contraption they use to cut these delicious bites, but they are fried to this perfect golden color and it has a nice crispy exterior like a good fry should have, yet soft inside but not making them soggy and still holds its shape. I could have eaten a ton of those. The Canadian in me just imagined a bowl of these fries with come cheese curds and gravy for a great poutine! YUM....ok, snapping out of my daydream! On to the kids... - Kiddos - They offer a Kids Menu that is called the "Willies Menu" (only for children 12 and under). Mac and Cheese - My youngest ordered it with a side of chips. The Mac was made with elbow noodles with a nice creamy sauce. My youngest thoroughly enjoyed it. Meatball Sandwich - My oldest ordered it with a side of chips as well. The sandwich was actually quite large for a kids portion. I could have eaten one for myself and it would have been plenty. It was a nice crusty bread with meatballs and not too overly saucy. The only thing I would suggest is for the kitchen to be mindful of the seasoning for the home made chips. Kids are generally more sensitive to flavors and taste to begin with being so youn

I seriously have no idea why reviews for this are so high. The food tastes fine, but it's extremely expensive, portions aren't anything special, entrees don't come with sides, and they don't even have a free/low cost water. You have to pay $2 for a bottle of water. It's insane. Plus the staff was not what I would call "friendly" (they weren't rude, but they definitely didn't seem to care we were there). Apparently it's just me based on all these reviews, but there are about a hundred other places in the area I'd rather spend my $15 on where I'll get more than just a sandwich and water.

Loved my tuna appetizer, which was perfectly sized for an entree! Red wine blend very nice. Server was very attentive.

Really good food, but not a huge fan of the "order at the counter" concept that they now have. It also appears that the customers are expected to clear their own tables after eating, despite the tip "opportunity" that is very prominent when ordering. (They do at least bring your food to your table) Having said that, the lobster grilled cheese, tomato soup, and salad was delicious and my husband's fried fish sandwich was huge & perfectly cooked. His onion rings were also excellent. Enjoyed the food, so will probably be back, just wish it were a full service restaurant. We don't enjoy the fast food style of ordering & clean up when we want to go out for dinner.....
