Excellent service and food! Our server, Mary, was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. My husband and I shared the oyster assortment which was amazing. I had the lamb chops and my husband had country captains chicken, and both were delicious. My lamb chops were cooked perfectly, and then laid upon a wonderful sauce and roasted vegetables, including peppers, fennel, and onions. We shared collard greens which also were delicious. The only downside we experienced was that while we waited 15 minutes or so for our table to be ready, we were seated in the front bar area which was closed. It felt odd, and may have been rectified easily by taking a drink order upon entry and bringing it into the waiting area. I will not, however, remove a star based on this, since the moment I walked into the dining room, I was turned around. In response to some of the other negative reviews I have seen on here, do not expect tremendous amounts of food on your plate. This is fine dining! I suggest if you are looking to be satisfied with a large meal to order the steak for two, which the couple next to us had, and repeated the word “Wow” several times as they ate their meal or the country Captain chicken which satisfied my husband. Thank you to the amazing chef and staff at The Grey who helped make our anniversary dinner very special for us!

The Grey is a great place for a special dinner. The setting is very interesting and the food was simply amazing. I had the scallops and they were just perfectly cooked - delicious. The service here was exceptional, too. I wish I could afford to eat here every night!

This spot is great for business casual dining. Me and my husband came for one of our honeymoon dinners. Our waiter was very professional and friendly. My husband got their tomahawk steak and I got their scallops. Both were cooked perfectly and delicious. When we visit Savannah again we will be coming here to eat.

I hate that my evening was tainted by small things. It should have been terrific, but it just wasn't. Largest issue, and maybe really petty, came at the end of the evening. I'd valet parked. There's a stand out front that says it's for "valet parking" and that's all it says. I live in an area of expensive restaurants and none, NONE of them charge $10 for valet parking. They're all included, or they just don't offer it. Further, I'd just paid too much for my meal, and this "fun surprise" . . . "That'll be $10" . . . was the last straw. And when I say I'd paid too much, an example would be the wonderful scallops, average in size but big in flavor, for which I paid $49 for three scallops and a bit (perhaps two tablespoons) of accompaniment. Portions, while flawlessly prepared were small, even skimpy. After an app and and entree, I really wanted to get something to eat. On another note, the service was attentive, but way too precious. The servers had long, well-rehearsed monologs about the food, and delivered these as if talking to someone who's never sat at a table before. At least, not at the big folks' table. Condescension isn't a good condiment! I've followed Chef Baily's career from afar for years, and have always wanted to dine with her. Unfortunately, I wish this desire was still unfulfilled; it would be much more pleasurable. I won't return to The Grey . . . there are far better options.

This is a fun spot on one of the main streets of historic Savannah, inside a restored Greyhound bus station. Good food, great service. There are two bars, one at the front of the station and one in the dining room. It appears that the dining room bar was probably the lunch counter from the old Greyhound days. The menu is varied, and the wine list is good.

Nice atmosphere. However, the entrees are very overpriced for such small portions. The falafel was not very balanced. Only a tiny dab of baba ganoush to go along with the falafel. The smothered grouper was good but small. I would not return.

We had high hopes for this restaurant after seeing it on Netflix and reading the book. The service was ridiculously slow and the wait staff over the top and condescending. We waited 40 mins for past our reservation time for our table. We weren’t there to drink at the bar but enjoy drinks with food. Then the waiter virtually ignored us for first 10-15 mins. Then another 10 mins before ordering We had to flag her down to order. We waited a further 10-15 mins for first bite of food. It’s now 8:45-8:50 after 7:30 reservation. Ridiculous, no bread was brought to the table. We had ordered the Prix fix. Then there were very long waits between all the other courses with the dessert finally coming between 10:15-10:30. We finally left close to 11:00. In hindsight we should not have tipped and I think there could have been an apology and an offer to comp the meal. Furthermore my husband felt water seeping into his clothes which the wait staff kept passing off as it’s nothing meanwhile mopping up water along the back of the bench seat where apparently some other waiter had spilled water. That alone should have triggered an apology. We had to press her to tell us where the water was coming from. All in all this was an extremely disappointing meal. The food got lost in poor management skills. Food was interesting especially first two courses. After that the mushrooms were too much and too heavy in sauce as was the quail. Dessert was very good. Not as expected for this highly rated restaurant. It was even the reason we came to Savannah. Shame on you The Grey. I hope you will respond with an explanation as to what happened on this particular evening. This was to be our highlight of Savannah.

The food was very good and the atmosphere of the restaurant and the staff is what made this stand out. The attention given to us and other customers was like we were the only table, but we saw that all the tables we could see.

Great service, staff was very attentive. Cool ambiance and food is great. I had scallops and they’re delicious!! The history and story of this place is interesting, that’s why tourists are always curious and wanted to try this place. I’m local and live in the Savannah area for 14 years and if you’re unable to get a reservation here on the weekends due to high demand, you can find new great fine dining restaurants like Common Thread or Fleeting as alternative. Entree portion is small so definitely get an appetizer.

The staff appears to be well-educated on cross-contamination and also knows which dishes on the menu are already GF or can be safely modified. I highly recommend the Chicken Country Captain and a side of Succotash. I had to order the chicken without the sourdough trencher, of course, since I have celiac disease, but the dish was still big enough for two. They did not have a GF bread for substitution, so that’s a point deduction. This is an exceptionally popular restaurant, so be sure to make your reservation days, if not weeks, in advance.

This spot is a hot location for Savannah Foodies and Travelers! We heard it was a must do and quickly made a reservation to celebrate our Anniversary. Upon our arrival we were greeted warmly and whisked away to our table. The table settings are close together but that doesn't take away from the experience. We received a cute card congratulating us on our anniversary. Our server, Mary, was fantastic. She reviewed the menu, graciously answered questions, and gave us plenty of time to make our selections. The menu is simple and changes often due to seasonal offerings. One of our favorite appetizers was a Rabbit Mortadella. It was surprisingly light and very yummy with the hot mustard seeds and spicy carrots. We also enjoyed the shared Country Chicken Captain. It was more than enough for two people and we brought home the left-overs. The dessert of Butterscotch pudding was outstanding. Who knew something so simple could taste so good? It was a favorite on our entire trip to Savannah. An experience at The Grey is a must do for those who love food!

We had an amazing dinner at the Grey! We ordered the Flounder and the Chicken plus some starters and sides. Our server Henry was very knowledgeable about the food and cocktails and guided us all into perfect recommendations. The fish was awesome but it was the chicken that really stole the show! The bread at the bottom of the plate was heavenly! Atmosphere was great and our friends really did enjoy the experience!

First, I want to say that the customer service here is great. This my second attempt to eat here and the first time a car accident kept me away and this time I was in a hurricane. Each time the managers were helpful and gracious. I only wish the food had been worth the wait. We ordered two appetizers, melon salad and rabbit mortadella, which were both good. The entrees, however, were terrible. The grilled pork was a salt bomb and had no other flavor at all. There was quite a lot of it, a very generous portion, but it was boring. There was a mess of overcooked and very oily peppers and no other starch/carb side at all. The pork had no flavor other than salt and pork fat. Another member of our party ordered the catch of the day, which was the smallest portion of fish I have ever seen provided as an entree. The food, all told, was disappointing and I cannot recommend it at all. The entrees are 30-50$ and not worth it. As a side note, we were asked if there was any special occasion and we told them we were celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary. As a "special" treat we were given a tablespoon of strawberry sorbet with a birthday candle stuck in it. The restaurant should be embarrassed to serve such a thing.

Started with cocktails in the bar area while waiting for our table. Excellent experience and enjoyed the vibe of being in an old Greyhound bus station. Our table elected to try the 5-course pre-fix menu. We really enjoyed the various selections along with the wine the sommelier helped us to select. Most of the courses were excellent but none of us were fans of the mushrooms - to each their own. Our only complaint was what appeared to be large lapses of time between courses. While we had ample time to enjoy each course, there was frequently at least a 10–15-minute wait between finishing one course and waiting for the next to arrive. I guess we all envisioned a more seamless delivery, so not sure if it was the kitchen or wait staff. At any rate, I would definitely go back again but probably would just order a "regular" meal off the menu.
