Vic's had great food. A little disappointed with the staff who sat us. We specifically noted in Open Table when making a reservation that we were celebrating a birthday and requested a window table. The staff did not see that request come through on their end they said. They said you still need to call the restaurant for special requests. Not sure if there is a glitch in Open Table app or at Vic's end. However, we did finally get a window table and a birthday candle in a piece of delicious cake.
Positives: food was delicious, service was prompt, cocktails were excellent. Negatives: server pressed us to place our order, when you go to a restaurant of this caliber, you should be expecting a relaxing dining experience instead of eating at Chili's. When entrees came out, instead of clearing my husband's appetizer plate first, the gentleman tried to place the entree plate on top of his dirty appetizer plate. When my husband stopped him, he stuck the entree plate on the side and walked away leaving the dirty appetizer plate there and the entree plate hanging off the side of the table. Finally, we had made a reservation well in advance and got seated at a table looking at the servers station. I would expect that if I was a walk in hoping to get a table.
The wait for service was ridiculous.we waited almost an hour for our entree. We were just leaving and the manager came out and apologized. We did not pay for our entree dishes. The food was ok.Strange that we were asked how we wanted pork cooked? The fried chicken dish was not special. We would return to the coffee cafe downstairs anytime !. we expected so much but were left disappointed.
The food was excellent, but the service was rushed and disjointed. We ordered white wine to accompany our appetizers, with a red wine to accompany our dinners. We were with another couple who had dined there several times before. The red wine arrived as our appetizers were completed and the white wine arrived in time to accompany our dinner.... Not as planned, but the wines were good. Benefit of the doubt; it was SCAD move in weekend and pretty crowded with much larger groups? However, this weekend is an annual event and what happened to “be prepared”??
Vic's was excellent. We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes and She Crab Soup and both were great. Our main courses were the Sea Scallops and the Fried Chicken. Each dish was well prepared and presented as well as delicious. Our server did a great job with recommendations and he knew the right amount of attention to give his diners. Overall a great experience and highly recommended.
Excellent experience at Vic's. Nick our server was wonderful and wanted everything to be perfect from the start, including our cocktails. Food was very good. We had wedge salad, she crab soup, ribeye steak and shrimp and grits. No room for dessert as the entrees were a good portion.
The space is elegant and understated. The hard wood floors and open ceiling do amplify the voices though so it is a bit loud in a busy night. Our server was professional and friendly. We split the Pear Salad which was amazing! I had the Jumbo Lump Crabcake and it was filled with sweet pieces of crab. My husband had the Po'Boy Flounder Sandwich and loved it.
The scallops were so delicious and my wife had one of the nights special, a grouper fillet with a creamy sauce. The best part though was the outstanding service we received from our server Tenisha
One of our favorite places to go to in Savannah ❤️ Awesome food & atmosphere. Love the fried green tomatoes, shrimp & grits & great cocktails.
Ribeye cooked more medium that medium well (way to much red, not even pink) and cut of meat was very tough (not enjoyable). Also, collard greens tasted very bland. I chose to dine this night after eating at Vic's previous night (9/2/2025) and tremendously enjoying my sea bass meal. This “2nd Act 2 was a big disappointment compared to 1st.

Had a great night at Vic's. Sat at the bar and received excellent service from Jessie. Friendly and great recommendations! Enjoyed the She Crab Soup, Fried Chicken and the Swordfish special. Everything was outstanding!!
The restaurant was warm, lovely & delicious! We got the benefit of sitting at a table by the window overlooking the river w/ the best & most accommodating waitress ever!!
Aubrey our server was professional, made excellent recommendations and Vic's on the River was our favorite dining experience in Savannah.
The service and ambiance at Vic's remains excellent, as always. I had the crab cakes, which I look forward to all year, and was surprised to see the the recipe has changed. Although it was fine, it was merely a crab cake, something I'll be able to get anywhere with decent sea food. The mustard sauce also seemed different. For many years, I've made a point of coming to Vic's every time I come to Savannah. I'll return, but I'm not going to make an extraordinary effort for what's now ordinary food.
Excellent experience. Celebrated 26th anniversary dinner at Vic's. Service was 100% from the time we arrived. Calamari was just ok, but the dinner special Ribeye made up for it on every level. I would highly recommend if you are in Savannah.
