UMI Japanese Steak House

We have eaten at Japanese steak houses before but this was not what we expected for quality. The steak was not cooked to what we asked and it was tough. Veggies needed cooked longer and the flavor was just not good maybe because it was too salty. The chairs at the grill were too short. It was just overall disappointing even though the staff was friendly and polite , we won't be back.

The food is terrible. I don't leave ugly reviews on anything but this food was awful. The chicken was overcooked,steak was barely there at all and the veggies seemed to be heated in a microwave.

Terrible service that could not get any orders right. The sushi was not good with one specialty roll missing many ingredients. Then charge 15 tip for this was criminal. We should have walked out at the start of the problems.

My food was absolutely amazing I loved it I just wish my salmon was a little bigger but then again I did the lunch special. My co workers was not happy with the food I enjoyed it

This place is the best hibachi spot I had on the south side. They are so good , the service 10/10. The portions is good.

Food was really good. I was just surprised to see a spaghetti noodle in my miso soup. The service and show that came with the food was grear as well.

Went there during lunch Austen was great! But ask for PJ he was an amazing chef! We sat at the grill and ordered sushi and hibachi everything was fresh and delicious. Great customer service! Will return❤️✨

Our waitress Brittany was so nice and attentive! It was our first time so we did go a bit overboard on ordering lol but everything we tried was delicious
Fried gyoza, Kani salad
Rolls - J.T.B, super volcano, vegetable tempura, teriyaki chicken tempura, beef tempura, & salmon tempura
My favorites were the super volcano and the vegetable tempura.
We came on a weekday so it wasn’t packed and will definitely come again :)
Gratuity is included (15%) but honestly I don’t mind that as it saves me trouble and Brittany was great!

The food was bland and lacked flavor. I don't think the chef spoke much English so communication was hard besides the order. The service and show was good. I would give it another try.
