5 star reviews i duno how. ..wow...the staff..our cashier was a very non focused/non responsive couldn't give a crud employee..there were a few of us..only took 1 of our orders before turning her back and chatting w friends and being on phone. After a while I had to shout out the other orders I which she got..but come on..the other staff was mostly on phones or eating snacks. the cashier proceeded to talk on phone while just letting food sit there for a bit..would be on phone stop add something to food, get back on phone then stop and tend to food...she was nice but man..it was like customers didn't exist at all and we were inconvenient to the staff and they made you very aware that your to wait until they felt like tending to u. honestly just get the customers done then go talk on the phone and eat..there was a pile up of ppl just staring..in awe that this was happening. .no one being helped much..food was decent so I'd give it a try just stern and vocal about getting ur stuff and that play time is for the playground:)

Dinner was very good. Had sweet potato with shrimp and broccoli. Delightful, unique flavors. Was served with a green salad.

Y'all get down to this place! The prices are good, the food is delicious, and the service is fantastic! Outdoor tables are nice as well! It's hidden across the street from the Art Street Station theatre... a nice playhouse. If you haven't been here yet, please try it... you won't be disappointed!

Honestly the in my reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the food is good, but the staff.... they're constantly on their phones they're was a LINE of people waiting for food and I had people after me getting their food before me, literally had to almost snatch a plate from an employee as she was trying to hand out to someone else and she said that's for them and I told her I've been waiting for over 10 mins this one is mine everyone here came in after me

I went with my wife and mother to this restaurant because we had a dog. So we ate out on the porch. I got the smoked gouda burger (I asked for pimento cheese but I got gouda). The cheese was a good choice with grilled onions. I had it with no bread and enjoyed it with pickled okra which my wife does not like okra and she enjoyed them. The potato salad was good just had a very different taste to it comparative to regular potato salad. I would get something else next time. My wife got the shrimp grain bowl which was fresh but did not taste like it had seasoning on it. And she said my burger tasted better and she wished she had ordered the burger. My mom enjoyed her burger as well.

I ordered the Pulled Pork Mac N' Cheese. The menu listed the ingredients as: MAC N' CHEESE, CAROLINA PULLED PORK, MAPLE BACON BRUSSELS SPROUTS, SWEET POTATO BBQ SAUCE. The dish was a bowl of small elbow macaroni with maybe some cream on it but no evidence of any cheese like substance. There was some type of medium spacy hot sauce on it. In the middle of the dish was a mound of pulled pork bar b que. Where that was tasty, I have my doubts as to whether it was actually prepared on site. There was no evidence of any Brussel Sprouts of any type within 20 feet of our table. Also no evidence of anything resembling the appearance or taste of Sweet Potatoes. Our server was astounded that Brussel Sprouts had been omitted, but did nothing about it. IMHO this restaurant should be rated 72 or 73 out of 73 restaurants in Stone Mountain. Not being a snob, but a realist, I would say that this meal was the worst one I have had in several years.

Absolutely awful experience on my Birthday. Let me preemp just a little. I am a regular diner and supporter of Sweet Potato Cafe. They were on the TV show Restaurant Impossible. Everyone knows their financial issues. I have attended three 10 person or more Birthday parties there. The last one I arranged and booked myself for an 87 year old friend of mine. Exactly the same people attended this party. Karen, the owner, and I have many of the same friends. This is why I eat there. The food is mediocre and the white wine is warm (!!!) ... but we still come back! Support! Each time the tables were pushed together for the 10. I have never, nor have any of my friends, rented the back room in order to have the 3 tables pushed together for 10 people. The reservation was left a week in advance and left by a mutual friend of Karen and myself. We were asked to move the reservation forward from 7 to 6:30. Apparently 6:30pm is the last seating. Nothing else was mentioned. So what happened? For my 52nd Birthday Party on March 10th I went to the Sweet Potato Cafe to meet my friends and found them sitting at separate tables! The restaurant was pretty much empty. I figured they forgot we were coming. No worries! Giggling (it was my Birthday! I was carrying presents and having fun!) I went to the back of the restaurant and found Karen. I said happily we were the reservation party of 10 but the tables weren't pushed together. Can we push the tables together? I was told the following immediately. Not even a breath of pause. We don't do that! (yes you do!) You should have rented the back room (But we never have!) Other customers might need to use the back room. (Remember we are the last reservation?) There is only one waitress (...Um?) ... and my favorite ... reserving a table for 10 does not necessarily mean ONE table. We should have specified. What????? I was laughing and happy initially when I asked for the tables to be pushed together. It was my Birthday. By the end of the conversation my happiness was gone. I realized Karen would not move the tables together and I threw my hands up and said OK! ... we're leaving! I asked why they hadn't called to tell us all this before we showed up? To be honest I felt completely discriminated against. I just don't see another explanation here. It was awful and upsetting. I do not recommend eating here. In fact I would like an apology. Thank you to the Village Corner German Restaurant for saving my night and bringing back the fun!

Chef Karen always delivers the best food. Today, we had the South West Salads, which come with the option of either chicken or salmon. Nice taco for aesthetics, but the beans, corn, spinach and sweet potatoes made this a super salad. We began with the crispy sweet potato bowl as an appetizer. There was plenty to share for two. Yumm. Nice crispy sweet potatoes with goat cheese and shallots—pecans and maple syrup. So good! We also ordered the tomato basil soup. I had to laugh when my husband tipped the cup up to drink the last drop. Wow! Seasoned to perfection. Thank you Chef Karen for another great meal. When I don’t feel like cooking at home, yours is the place to go.

Reviews said it would be a great lil place for breakfast. Love trying new places. Walked in lady was nice asked how many, told her 2, here’s a table sit here. Another staff member came up and said we don’t normally sit 2 people at a four top you can move over to this table. Table was small and was fit for a single person. As I looked around the restaurant there were 3 other tables where there were only 2 people at a four top. I requested to stay where we were originally seated by another staff member. It seems that is when it all went downhill. It took an hour to get our breakfast. I watched other tables that arrived after us receive their food, we had to ask for refills of drinks, there was no stopping at the table, it was literally asking as they passed by. Our original server who set us, didn’t see her again until our check came. We both ordered toast, only one of us received it. And it didn’t come with the breakfast. We were halfway through with our meal when it arrived! No condiments, food was dropped off had to ask for everything. Saw another table that was waiting for their food toast was taken to their table long before their food arrived. This is definitely a “local” spot, watching the staff you could tell the tourist from the locals. The tourist received less service. Food was tasty the service was horrible. There were delicious looking desserts on the counter but after the service we received I didn’t want to spend anymore money where I didn’t feel appreciated as a customer. Especially a customer for the first time. I can assure when visiting the area again I will spend my money and time elsewhere where customer service is given and tourists are appreciated!!!!.
