Stopped by Highlands Tavern recently for dinner. It is in the building previously occupied by Twisted Taco, located directly adjacent to a usually very busy Taco Mac. It is a good building, nice large bar area, lots of booths, and a covered outdoor patio up top.The menu selection seemed a little scattered, sort of a southwest meets asian infusion. Service was friendly, we ordered queso dip with chips, some burgers and a couple draft beers. The burgers were good, cooked well, fresh onions, tomatoes, and lettuce, and the crinkle fries were hot and crisp. Beer was cold and fresh as well. Had to knock a star off for the queso it wasn’t good, consistency was runny.Highlands Tavern has potential, as mentioned it is a good building and the upstairs outdoor patio (something Taco Mac next door does not have) could be a big draw come warmer weather. I think if the menu was simplified and they focused on doing an excellent job with staple items like burgers, tacos, wings, queso, etc...coupled with a larger draft beer selection, this would be a great neighborhood spot.Hope to swing by in the spring and check them out again.

Decent food and prices. Still has the decor from Twisted Taco.Service was exceptional but loud music from the 90s and a loud mouth cursing at the bar all night was enough to make this a one time visit.

Just moved to the area, decided to try this place when I saw the Grand Opening banner on the front.Fun decor and that is about as good as it got.Bruce, our waiter was friendly and attentive. As the place was empty there no other demands on him, but he took good care of us.I ordered shrimp fajitas. The shrimp was overcooked, chewy and unseasoned. There was a small bed of peppers and onions that also lacked traditional fajita seasoning. In addition to being poorly prepared, the $16.99 price for the small portion made it overpriced.My wife ordered a classic hamburger she described as ok. It looked like a frozen burger patty. We agreed there is nothing there to make us want to go back.

The motif is nice and unique, but the food was definitely not worth the price. The mozzarella sticks were just frozen ones that you can buy at any grocery store, our mac n cheese balls came with some moldy cheese, and both the sweet and unsweet tea tasted like they fermented in dish soap. This place COULD be something but they definitely gotta up their food game first.

It’s a unexpected vibe of Korean fusion in the menu. Ordered wings and they were TINY! Flavor was great but would not recommend. Walk across the street to Taco MAC.
DO NOT EAT HERE! My boyfriend and I have food poisoning after eating at this establishment. This restaurant will fail if it doesn’t tighten up. Not only are they understaffed, but the staff is not well trained. Upon entering, we were not greeted and seated so we took a seat at the bar. We watched 8 different individuals come in, wait to be seated and eventually leave because no one addressed them. We waited forever to order food because they couldn’t find a menu to give us, and eventually gave us paper to-go menus after about 30 minutes of looking. The food also took forever to cook and our waiter warned us that it was going to take forever so they hoped we didn’t have plans. Also, have the beers and liquors on the menu were not stocked, THIS WAS AT THEIR GRAND OPENING!! You would think it would be stocked. I would be shocked if the health department did a surprise visit and this place passed. It is a liability waiting to happen!

One of the best places I have ever been to. They were very quick and there food was amazing. Their beer was top of the line. This is my new place to go to. I was going to go to Taco Mac. This place is so much better. Everyone needs to support them. All the reviews about them being rude and not wearing masks is false.

I have driven by here numerous times and decided to stop in for lunch. They weren't terribly crowded today and I was seated fairly quickly. We walked to one table and the waiter decided not to sit me there as he noted "this television doesn't work". No big deal (I thought). I was seated and finally placed my order after the server asked me 2x (that was all me, not him). I ordered a burrito bowl w/shrimp and asked for jalapenos, cilantro, and salsa to be added. My bowl came and I noticed it looked a bit light & very soupy. I ate 3 bites and it just didn't taste right.. moved food around and noticed there was no rice under the lettuce, jalapenos, or cilantro. I asked another server to have my server come over. When he came, I told him that I didn't think what I got was what I ordered. He checked his pad and repeated my order to me. I moved the lettuce and stated "Doesn't rice come with this?" He said "Ugh they forgot the rice! I'll get it remade". I said "Thank you" and started by reading my book. 2 mins later my server returned with the same plate of food and says "well the thing is, we don't have any rice... if you choose to keep it he'll discount it for you". I said "No thank you" and left. Are you kidding me??? Discount it? Something like that should be noted before the order is placed! If I wanted a soup based meal, I would have ordered one... circling back to the 1st table with the "No working TV"... the couple that was subsequently sat there as I was leaving complained about seeing a live roach on the table!! I think the server saw it when he was going to seat me there and that's the actual reason that he took me to an different table. Needless to say I won't be back there. I checked their health score and they passed just 2 days ago! How w/a live Roach on the table?!?!

This is the worst restaurant experience I have had in years. It took over an hour to get our food, which was mediocre at best. We ordered tacos, nothing special. Our drinks from the bar had still not arrived by the time we were finished eating, so we asked the server to cancel them and bring us water. We never got the water. The waitress asked us if we had ever eaten here before and basically explained that this was business as usual, and they they were about to be closed because they couldn't get anyone to manage the unit. Absolutely ridiculous. Also noticed on the way out that the health score is 80, which if I had seen on the way in would have stopped me from going inside.

This is an amazing restaurant with potential to be better if they just had the right staff and better yet manager . We have been coming here for 5 years and never have we ever heard at the bar from regulars that a new manager is destroying the place and very rude. Also bartenders and servers are screaming in kitchen due to roaches and other things screaming ewww . How could anyone want to eat at a place like this . ? Better yet everyone is on their phones and just blasting cursing music while managers are also no where to be found via workers .we will be changing location of eating as we come every thursday . Sorry for the business
