Great spot for lunch with a good staff vibe!

I recently visited the Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe with my wife and we absolutely enjoyed the food. The place was very clean, the food was fresh, the servers and cashiers were courteous and professional. Thumbs way up for Taziki's.

I have been here several times. I have loved their food every single time. However, I will probably not come back for the following reason.

I have dined in here by myself and with my family several times. When I was by myself, everything was fine.

But when I was with my family, things were different. There is a short young ME looking guy working here in the kitchen, I don’t know his name, but his picture was posted in one of the other reviews right next to an older gentleman in the kitchen showing thumbs up.

A few times I entered this place with my family, he shouted “Welcome In” a little bit too loud. But he did not stop there. He came to our table and started asking how our food was, which he has no business asking that since he works in the kitchen and there was a server who already asked us that, plus he did not ask me when I was dining in by myself several times in the past, and we replied the food was good. But he did not stop there. He started talking to the ladies sitting on the table and asked them “ what did you like about the food? Where are you guys from? What is your name?…” which I personally found a little bit too much. Unless he is the owner and he knows his customers on personal level, he should keep it professional. This guy may think people do not know what he is doing, but the chances are they definitely know. I just wanted to point this thing out since it happened several times and it can definitely make the customers feel uncomfortable.

We stopped at what we thought would be a welcoming spot to refuel on our drive back to Virginia from Alabama, but this Tazikis Cafe location left us thoroughly unimpressed. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was off. The cashier was glued to her phone and didn’t even bother to greet us—we had to speak up just to get her attention. Given that we were the only two guests in the line to order and 2 other guest in the entire restaurant on a slow Monday night on 08/25/2025, the lack of attention felt even more jarring.

The food was a letdown, too. I ordered the Mediterranean Lamb Burger, which arrived dry and clearly hadn’t been freshly grilled. The Taziki sauce, which I’ve loved in the past, tasted sour, and the pita was stale and hard—more like cardboard than the soft, fluffy bread I’ve come to expect. My daughter’s meal was just as disappointing. Her fruit mix somehow included pasta, giving it a strange vinegar flavor she described as inedible.

After waiting 20-25 minutes for our food, the rest of our five-hour drive felt tainted by the bad experience. While the manager was responsive and credited our entire $42.00 bill after I called to complain, the damage was already done. This experience soured us on this particular location, and we won’t be back. The food quality clearly reflected in the sparse customer turnout that night. Moving forward, we’ll be more cautious and won’t hesitate to ask for a taste test before committing to a meal.
