Stopped into this die-hard American roadside café to grab some breakfast. Let me start with this place is more patriotic than ANY DEFAC or Chow Hall I've ever visited. I decided to try the Western omelet with a biscuit and a side of grits. Being a northerner I enjoy maple syrup in my grits, nothing needed! These grits were PERFECT!!! The omelet was worth every penny, and that biscuit was stick to your ribs good. Looking forward to trying lunch or dinner next.
I was very disappointed in the food here. It was very clean and I was looking forward to the fried chicken. Unfortunately they were out of dark meat or didn't serve anything but white meat. Since I viscerally hate meatloaf that left the country fried steak, and I picked mashed potatoes and green beans for sides. The cf steak was ok. The mashed potatoes were blander than the instant mashed potatoes I had as a child. In fact if it wasn't for the occasional potato chunk...
Service and food was wonderful and reasonably priced. When checking out I paid in cash and asked for a receipt. The nice young lady at the register was trying to accommodate me. A co-worker told her to write down what we had and itemize it.
Then suddenly an older lady came out from the kitchen and loudly told the nice young lady
You cannot do it that way. No way to do it’. I apologized and said I please need a receipt. She said well you should have said that...
