The nicest gentleman was working there. He was making everything to order. He was also very quick at getting your food even with a large amount of people ordering. His BBQ was amazing. Well seasoned and juicy tender and moist, with a good smokey flavor. The meat was falling off the bone, no exaggeration. His whole operation is local, friendly, and amazing quality BBQ. Definitely worth the trip. Limited seating and parking. Also gets very busy around lunchtime.

Ordered brisket and ribs! This place was amazing and a hit with the people on our trip who didn’t want to eat Poke next door. (And they’re from the South, so that’s saying a lot!) Fast service. Shares a patio with the Poke place, so we all ate what we wanted and it was perfect!

The sausage and ribs are so amazing, they could turn a vegetarian into a carnivore! ?? And guess what's on the BBQ buddy list? The neighboring poke shop! ?? Great ribs with wonderful BBQ sauce! The sides are great too. Seems to be a one man shop when we were there. It takes a while during the lunch rush, but it is worth every minute! Yum!

Went to Big Jakes for lunch, so good, the baby backs were fall off the bone tender, beautiful pink smoke ring and nice outer char. My tongue was beating up my lips just to taste um. The baked beans and slaw were very good as well. Delightfully the smoke flavor lingers on the taste buds a long time. Mahalo to the pitmaster.

We had 2lbs of the brisket. Wholy moly that brisket was AMAZING!! FELL APART WITH A FORK but hands were much easier lol Cole slaw very tasty and the service was very welcoming. MUST STOP HERE!!

Since moving to Big island we've been enjoying the local foods but this place is the only one so far that we have not one complaint the food was bomb and the service was great! Keep up the good work! We'll be back Mahalo!!!

This is one of the hidden gems on the Big Island. It is a roadside hole in the wall (actually outside). Its great to eat there or take away. Some of the best on the island.

Fantastic. So glad we stopped on the way back from Cptn. Cook’s Bay. Had the smoked ribs, chicken and sausage platter…best bbq we’ve ever had. Jake was very friendly and helpful. We’re making a point of going back before we leave the big island. Mahalo Jake.

We made two stops here during our visit to Kona. Once for lunch on the road and the other to buy Jake’s BBQ for our Christmas?dinner while visiting the island!Jake does a great job smoking the meat and Tom made me feel like an old friend while getting our order ready.The food is fantastic! We truly loved every bite!Brisket!!Pulled Pork!!Ribs!!Baked Beans!!Cole Slaw!!Lemonade!!You will not be disappointed if you make a point to stop here for a meal.

Some real deal BBQ - smoked with Kiawe. Got the mixed plate and a pulled pork sandwich. Sweet sauce is balanced and perfect I’m the pulled pork and smoked sausage. Will be back next month when Jake gets back.

Parking: Park in the lot, not on the highway across from the smoker

Omg. BBQ is bbq. But Big Jake’s truly melts in your mouth! Besides a sandwich and some sides, you can order a bowl: pulled chicken or pork with rice. — I asked for a bowl with the beef brisket. Jake was kind enough to accommodate my request. It’s a small, non-descript outside dining area that you might pass up if not looking for it! Limited parking but worth waiting for! Food is brought out quickly. Prices good and portions large.
