This is not a joke. The best food I’ve had in 3 years solidly. I would state that this is better than food exceeding the 40$-60$ range. It was made in house, by a family for a hundred years. The stew is made with bone Marrow to allow it to really bring out warm colors. The server was the most respectful and most kind hearted individual I’ve met in a while. And the cook as well granted us all a warm smile brewed over generations.
This place deserves more than it has.
It’s humble, homey, and delicious.
If I ever come here again within 60 miles. I would gladly eat here.

Amazing delicious food (loved the pork pineapple ribs) and the service/story/people were amazing! Can’t believe established since 1924. A must visit if you’re stopping through the area for lunch or breakfast.

I would have to say they put mom and pop in the mama pop restaurant. This couple that is been married for 53 years are over the top amazing the mom cooks. The husband is the Waterboy.(his own admission.) we had the pleasure of running across this place while we were on our way down to Hilo and it is by far a must stop place. They had fresh walnut pie, the Portuguese bean soup was over-the-top amazing as was the Portuguese sliders. And on top of that just to be able to talk to this beautiful couple I’ve been doing this for most of her life brought a new experience to casual dining for me.

My favorite place we ate on the island. The owners are incredible and embody every part of Hawaii’s aloha spirit. The food was fantastic and hit the spot!

The people who work here are incredibly friendly and kind. I stopped in to get a coffee when everywhere else seemed to be closed, and not only did I get an excellent iced coffee, I got to hear about how they make their own coffee ice cubes to keep the coffee strong, and about some of the history of the place. Definitely worth a stop if you’re passing through!
The owners are fantastic. They will go above and beyond to make your experience positive. The food is phenomenal. This is the first non-pizza meal my 12 year old has finished completely since we’ve been on the big island. They also use profits to provide youths with college scholarships.
