As a Jamaican, I was really excited to hear about there being a Jamaican spot in Hawai’i, with good reviews at that! I came today with my family looking forward to some Jerk Chicken, Curry Chicken, Oxtail, Fried Fish, and Beef Patty, and although the man who was working was very nice…I must say this food was not authentic Jamaican food at all.

The Jerk was too sweet and nuh even mek pon grill, the Curry was not Jamaican Style Curry, the Oxtail was was not made Jamaican Style and had no butter bean, and the Fish…just so we are all on the same page, Jamaican Fried Fish is generally known to be cooked Escovitch style, this couldn’t be anymore far from it, this fish looked like regular fried catfish, no escovitch sauce, no sweet peppers/onions/carrots, none of it.

Moreover, the “rice and peas” nuh even rice and peas, it was hispanic yellow rice with red beans, Jamaican rice and peas for those who don’t know is white rice and pigeon beans (which we call gungo peas) made with coconut milk, all spice, likkle all purpose, scallion, and scotchy. Then there was also the side of steamed cabbage which was purple cabbage?? Mi kno seh cabbage run up a price so mi nuh vex too bad but it did odd no less. Then the fry up plantain was too crunchy for my liking, most Jamaican fry up plantain is soft. And lastly the Beef Patty? It was more so like Beef Empanadas than actual Jamaican Patty.

All in all, I appreciated the hospitality immensely but I cannot at all say this food was authentically Jamaican.

Literally the best thing we had on our entire trip. Like seriously so good we went three times in a row! You can’t go wrong with anything you order everything was excellent. The flavor combinations the fixings the cornbread muffin (drooling just thinking about it) I’m telling you run don’t walk to this amazing food option on the big island! Mahalo!!!

We ordered a bunch of food and all were fresh and delish. I highly recommend the brisket, best brisket I’ve ever had so tender and melts in your mouth. All meats were really tender and owner was nice.

Love this food truck! Had the pulled pork with curried potatoes and cornbread, and it was delicious! I usually don’t like cornbread, but the one here is really good. The owner/chef is a nice guy too.

The cook was very nice and the flavor of his food is amazing especially the jerk chicken. He had a seated area and provided excellent service. Next time I'm in the area I'll definitely stop by again.

Found this through goggle review and was not disappointed. The owner was very nice. Like another reviewer noted, this is strictly regarding the food, not the ambiance. This is a food truck parked at a gas station (kind of cool actually. Saying we ate great Jamaican food in Hawaii at a food truck parked at a gas station... Who would've thought?). Came here with the family (10 of us) and it was delicious! The owner put out a collapsible table and chairs under a mesh canopy. We had the catfish, brisket, oxtail, pulled pork, bacon wrapped ribs, and jerk chicken. Also got a few of the Jamaican beef patties. These were a little different from the ones I remember eating in NYC, but still enjoyed this version. The owner made everything to order and could go light or heavy on the spice, which we appreciated. We got sides of yellow rice& beans, curry potatoes, fried plantains, and what we Cubans call tostones (another version of the fried plantains that look like chips). Nothing negative to say about the food. It was great and would definitely recommend.
