Staff were very nice, view of the harbor is awesome and location is super convenient. Fish tacos were mediocre and fries were basic. Beer was tasty but Diet Coke was completely flat. Come for the scenery but maybe eat somewhere else.

This bar is the perfect mix of laid-back charm and quality. The drinks are excellent—well-made, flavorful, and served just right. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with great ocean view that adds to the overall experience without feeling over the top. The staff are friendly and attentive, making you feel genuinely welcome, and the food is surprisingly good for a place that focuses on drinks. It’s the kind of spot where you can unwind, enjoy good company, and have a great time without any pretension.

Great food and atmosphere! We sat facing the ocean and watched the waves crash onto the sidewalk, splashing passer-bys.

Can’t beat the location. Cool dive-type bar with great bartenders. And the geckos are always hungry.

Our favorite place! This was the second summer we have been able to visit Big Island and we went to Da Shark Shack almost every night both times we visited. Between the view, the drinks, the geckos, and the ono bites you can’t find a better place! We only wish we tried the ono bites sooner(we didn’t have them during our first trip.) Can’t wait to come back!

Looking for a bar with eats and a ocean view? One bites were awesome and we are coming back for the burgers. Seating is limited but definitely worth a try. It also has Hawaiian local brews as well.

Foolful

Despite all the good reviews the food was disappointing. It was our first bad meal after two weeks on the island. The place was cash only when we went and very loud. Their specialty drinks were horrible, I have had better drinks at strip clubs.
If you had to choose between here and just grabbing liquor at the ABC store I recommend the latter.

Definitely get the Ono bites! We were pleasantly surprised they weren’t covered in breading, but were sautéed in a lovely garlic parm

The food honestly wasn’t good for what we paid for —around 140 dollars— we paid for 8 tacos and all of the tortillas were dry. The French fries were extremely dry, and the addition of salsa under ordering tacos were misleading as there was no additional salsa but it was already added on as sauce? The atmosphere was extremely noisy with frogs croaking every second. The chicken was also extremely dry as we ordered chicken bites. The drinks were also bad. The coke was flat, and when we addressed it they came back with water but still charged us for flat coke. Would not recommend. Service was alright though.

The best place for people watching right across from the sea wall. Ono bites are very tasty and the Mai Tais are delicious!
