Tomato beef brisket noodle soup has the best beef noodle soup base on the Big Island.

The food was just not good. Don’t go here

The ramen and curry was okay. A bit boring flavor wise. The appetizers- shrimp tempura, gyoza, and chicken katsu was good.

Standard Japanese ramen fare at reasonable prices. My son can eat gyoza for a main course and we ended up over-ordering. I would come here again.

This is the worst ramen restaurant I’ve ever been to. I rarely write Google reviews for restaurants, and I wouldn’t usually be so picky about a ramen shop in a tourist city. But today, I was really upset.

We ordered a chicken katsu, a black garlic ramen, and a chive pancake. The chicken katsu tasted okay. The black garlic ramen, however, had absolutely no black garlic flavor—instead, it tasted like a cheap instant noodle seasoning packet. I could tolerate that because I didn’t have high expectations to begin with.

But then came the chive pancake. There were four pieces in total. The first two were passable. But the third one? As soon as I bit into it, there was a strong taste of dishwashing liquid or some other cleaning product. I had my girlfriend try it, and she said she tasted the same weird flavor.

I called the server over, but she kept insisting that it was just the taste of the chives. Her attitude made it seem like I’d never eaten chives before. I’ve been eating chives for over 20 years—I know what they’re supposed to taste like. I even left part of the suspicious piece uneaten, hoping she would try it herself. But she just threw the problematic piece away and completely denied it was an issue with their restaurant. Instead, she asked how I wanted to resolve it, implying that I was nitpicking just to avoid paying for the pancake.

Excuse me? I bought a plane ticket and flew all the way to Hawaii just to save money on half a pancake?

This restaurant clearly has serious hygiene issues. Either the kitchen didn’t properly clean the utensils, or the server had some kind of liquid on their hands while serving the food. By the way, the server was mopping the floor the entire time we were dining. I really hope this doesn’t affect my health.

I strongly advise anyone who cares about taste, hygiene, or service to avoid this restaurant. It’s an absolute disaster.

Daiichi Ramen is a must-visit for anyone craving a delicious and affordable meal in Kona. Located in a strip mall, this unassuming spot offers a cozy atmosphere and a menu full of flavorful options.
The ramen is cooked to perfection, with a rich broth and tender noodles. The portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable. The service is friendly and efficient, making for a delightful dining experience.
If you're looking for a quiet and satisfying meal, Daiichi Ramen is definitely worth checking out.

Saw this place while shopping during our vacation in Kona. The pictures & menu in front drew us in because we like ramen. We had ramen, soba & chicken katsu. I ordered the chicken katsu to add some more protein to our dishes. Not a lot of goodies in the ramen but the broths were so so tasty, it didn’t matter. The noodles tasted fresh made with a nice bite. Not sure it they were fresh made but very tasty with the delicious broths. Service was excellent and efficient. The ladies brought out our food quickly and came to check our water at decent intervals. Highly recommend this place and the ramen. There’s something for everyone on the menu. Very satisfying ramen! We just wanted to keep eating ramen. We didn’t leave hungry!

I kept coming back for their special combo. Their tantan ramen is so tasty! As well as the gyoza, croquettes, and katsu chicken. Can't beat their prices.

Me and my boyfriend came on Sunday, we ordered ramen and curry. As soon as they brought me the ramen, I smelled a bad smell from it, but I didn’t pay much attention, I was too hungry. It tasted ok, but a few hours later my stomach started to hurt really bad, and I also started throwing up like crazy. Today is Tuesday I still feel horrible after it , one of the worst food poisoning I ever had in my life.PS my bf also ate the ramen and guess what his stomach was hurting too , not as bad as me but he had only one bite.

The worst possible place to have ramen on the island. The taste of the ramen was horrible and the lady at the desk was very rude. Never visit this place
