We enjoyed a wonderful Sunday breakfast by the water listening to a musician play great island music. Our waitress, Tammy, was excellent. She was quick, knowledgeable, and the food was amazing!
Lilokalani French toast to die for
Have had three four-star breakfasts at Kalikala. The stuffed lilikoi french toast was amaaaaaaazing, the coffee terrific, the service extra friendly, and can't beat the ocean view location. We had our breakfast while watching whales breaching in the bay. Truly memorable!

It’s true this place is special! The owners and their pup are super friendly, the views and atmosphere are wowza, the servers were helpful and friendly allowing us to just sit, chill and take it all in (so grateful for the relaxed pace but it wasn’t slow), the local guy playing his guitar were an added plus but put all that aside and the food was so good! It was loaded with flavor, fresh and fun flavors! I got the 1/2 & half (it’s a half order of waffles half order of stuffed French toast, coconut cream and delicious sauce, plus eggs & protein of choice. Hubby had huevos rancheros (he’s a bit of a huevos rancheros snob) and we both loved the tropical twist but keeping some traditional flavor! And to top it off, we felt it was pretty reasonable for Hawaii.
Dietary restrictions: We saw GF toast on menu

Wanted to eat here this morning by myself. After I was seated, waitstaff walked by me three times without a greeting or to say we’ll be with you in a moment. Nope. Treated me like I was invisible. Even if short staffed (which may not have been the case) there is no reason they couldn’t have spent 5 seconds to say hello

Very tasty food. The reception was a bit brisk at first. When asked our name, I said we didn't have a reservation. Without saying anything, the gentleman said, somewhat annoyed: “Your name!” I didn't find it very nice or inviting. But after that everything was okay. There wasn't much going on there. Nevertheless, everything from placing the order to delivery took a bit of time. But the food was really very tasty and recommended.

Great food, nice people, live music, ocean views, and kombucha! Service could've been a little faster. Would love to see some meat substitute options. Would dine here again.

DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU’RE HUNGRY. It took about 45-60minutes to get our food. The food is good but nothing out of the ordinary. Not worth the wait. But the atmosphere is relaxing, the ocean view is nice and the place looks cute.

A wonderful breakfast/brunch spot. Food is fresh and delicious with lots of local fruitless and vegetables. Owner is great and friendly as is all of the staff. Not enough stars to rate this restaurant properly.

Absolutely the worst place in Kona. We waited for two minutes without being greeted. We were finally seated and the amplified music was so overwhelmingly loud that we could barely great each other. Wait staff were so unknowledgeable about ingredients and dietary restrictions that they handed off to another person (who admittedly was a bit better and at least not rude about fielding a couple of questions). Finally, the traffic noise is bad and only drowned out by the music. Awful. Awful. Awful.
Dietary restrictions: There is a dangerous level of misinformation and lack of knowledge by wait staff about gluten sensitivity. Questions were met with rude ignorance and mansplaining (by first wait person). Skip this place.

I had this place saved on my list to eat at weeks before vacation and was very excited.. however, I was never able to try it because of the rude owner.
I had been waiting for quite awhile to be seated, the place had only about 4 small groups seated as it was early morning. and we'd waited 15mins (because I really wanted the food).. one of the owner friends named "Leslie' came and pushed past my husband to try to stand in front of us. We got asked "how many" and replied 2. He didn't even respond to us.. and then asked his friend "Leslie" (and their friends) which table they wanted and then sat them first right away.. we then waited for another 15 mins to be seated or acknowledged again.. and nothing! I realized, despite the delicious looking photos of food, I would not support that guy.. walked over next door to the Fish Hopper and had a delicious meal there instead. I would not waste your time here, especially seeing the other reviews and that the owner acts like this often.
