Tacos were great except it was very confusing. When I first walked in I didn't know where to start. Luckily I was meeting someone there so they explained everything to me. I was frustrated though because I rarely carry cash anymore and only cash was accepted to buy drinks. Even nonalcoholic ones. Then the comedy show only accepted cash or venmo. Needless to say. I left. There were no mentions of the cash only policy in any of their advertisements. That needs to change. I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon.P.S. There was an ATM but the line was hella long and it was malfunctioning for many people.

We, as diehard Elks, always make it a point to visit the Kona Lodge when in Hawai'i! This was our first visit to their new digs in the theater. Ukulele classes were happening that day! How fun! We soon hooked up with Trish, the Lodge Secretary. She showed us around the rest of the building and was very nice. (The lodge, in our opinion, has a long way to go in remodeling that building and it's going to take lots of money which we're not sure they have.). We also had dinner at their Friday night prime rib dinner which was very good. After sitting by ourselves for quite awhile, we were eventually joined by 4 other nice people and enjoyed their company. In closing, we do hope they'll be able to settle on a solid plan for their building and start work on it as funds permit. Wish them all the best; they're a great bunch of folks!

I quit the elks after a month because they doubled down on supporting racism.I joined the elks last month because my family had good experiences with them. At first it seemed promising, I enjoy helping make a better community for the next generation. The Elks have grants for students and do some great work for the community. There was an opening in the committee that does local events and I joined in right away.I was contacted by the leader Bill (cool guy) who scheduled time to meet with me to get me off on the right foot.I arrived early to our meeting. That's when I met John. John is here in Kona because the local Kona Elks is in trouble with the headquarters for improper use of funds. He is supposed to be making sure that things are being done properly for a probationary period.John introduced himself and was irritated that he didn't know about my meeting with Bill.I introduced myself and my goals and John was excited to hear about my passion for helping kids. He assured me that I could be in charge of that committee because it was run by a bunch of brown girls. He went on to clarify that he meant local poorly educated asian girls. This was a red flag but when you deal with old white men in power, you sometimes ignore a bit of casual racism. I now regret not calling it out immediately. After John left, I met with Randall who puts the flags up each day and asked if anyone had ever had an issue with the Blue Lives Matters flag that they fly. He said no but that if I had an issue, I could explain it to John/Bill and they would look into it and make a decision. The Elks constitution states that they are non political and I explained the connection between that flag and the unite the right, Jan. 06. and the Blue Lives matters groups. He said he would look into it butt that I should present it to a vote at the next members meeting.Last night was the members meeting, I was given the floor and started to present the issue. John interrupted me before I could start tying the flag to these political groups and told the room that the HQ had decided that if a member objected to the flag that they should give up their membership. He warned me that there would be no refund of my annual dues.I turned in my membership but continued to speak about the links. Various members started yelling over me saying ugly things. As I walked away I yelled that they were old white racists.I know that that is not true of many elks but they are all complicit in allowing racist speech to regularly occur.

I've been a member for 6 years and I have a great time there. We moved from the old location 2 years ago to the hualalai theatres that got abandoned during covid. We're still remodeling the place and could use some more members to give us a hand. Come on down and hang out with us and talk story and see if it would be mutually beneficial to become a member!

Traveling from out of town and saw that they were having a comedy night. Super welcoming people when we arrived and it was a fun impromptu night out. Good variety of comedians.

Simply a marvelous institution that's been around since the sun came up. They have a wonderful shop, and they also have a beautiful Entertainment lounge, complete with pool tables, bar, and staff, ready to make your evening, memorable and classy. Don't miss the comedy shows

What a great Lodge! Super friendly people. Invited us in and gave us a tour. An old movie theater. Everyone was friendly. Open environment. What a great organization, consistently giving back to the community among them.
