We were so surprised to stumble into this gem in a non-descript strip mall in Kailua-Kona. The food was fresh, healthy, lots of options. The staff were all friendly and kindly explained how to order and offered advice on the various sauces and choices. We lunched outside on one of their picnic tables, enjoying some of their really refreshing iced teas. I suppose my only not-as-positive surprise was the price. A bit pricey but fresh, local and healthy fare does cost more than less nutritious fast-food options.
Delicious, healthy, flavorful & locally sourced! Best of all the service is filled with Aloha. I always feel so good when I eat here and not just my taste buds & tummy. The bowls made by the Chef are superb with the best dressings (they sell bottles of it, too) and always paired with a good amount of protein. You can also build your own bowl with the ingredients that are in season & choose your favorite dressing over a salad, noodle, or rice bowl. The meal is not complete without the in-house drinks & desserts. Yes, it's not the cheapest meal. I think of it as a little self-care that goes a long way for my health & well-being. I wish more places like Laulima exist on the Big Island!
Thank you Laulima for always being the best! You can taste the love and care that goes into the bowls. The laulima team is so kind and eager to help. I enjoy watching the effortless way they work together to make sure everyone is taken care of, not just their customers but their team too! I love the yummy flavors and fresh ingredients. Their Hawaiian ginger peanut sauce with the rice noodles is the perfect combination. I get it with the vegan protein option of curried chickpeas and it satisfies every time. When I need something filling but also something good to cleanse my body and soul, I come to laulima!
This is my go to lunch spot when I’m in town! The staff is super friendly, Angeli and Kaitlyn are so sweet and helpful. The curried chickpea crumble is an amazing protein choice and one of my favorites. Love how fresh and vibrant everything is. It’s great seeing how they partner with local farmers and are connected to the community. Gotta remember to grab a few of their bottled house made sauces to take those amazing flavors home. They’re great on everything and really make throwing together a great dinner a breeze.
Honestly - Laulima is my ONE favorite place to dine in Kona. When I moved away from the Island, I missed Laulima most. When I return for visits, I head there first. The bowls are fresh, delicious, and bursting with unique flavor combinations. I obsess over their tsukemono. You can buy a whole jar of it. Which I do. And their handcrafted dressings are excellent. (I’ve not had a better green goddess dressing.) Both the atmosphere of the restaurant and their service are superb. It’s such delicious food you can feel good about eating. They make it a priority to source from local farmer friends!
I’m a weekly regular at Laulima Food Patch for various reasons. You can trust that no matter the combination of ingredients you choose for your meal, they were sourced with your health as the priority. Fresh, delicious, high quality ingredients that are packed full of virtually every bit of nutritional fuel you need to lead your day with energy and comfort. Plenty of variety, simple ordering, and friendly service.Although it begins with the food, the employees truly make this establishment shine. From top to bottom every employee exudes a warm genuineness that immediately fortifies your decision to eat there. They are all great at what they do , display a passion for cuisine + health and do it all with a kind hearted disposition and professionalism. I live 45 min away from Laulima and still go multiple times a week. It is my first choice out of any establishment out here and everyone should check it out if you are in the Kona area to experience it for yourselves. 10/10
Laulima Food Patch is nothing short of wholesome, fresh, healthy, and filling real food. It is arguably the best spot on the island to enjoy a meal. It is like fine dining food in a sustainable eco-friendly bowl!! And the sauces, I am not a sauce person - but the Lao Sauces are so so delicious!!! The staff is incredible and so is the owner. They put love, attention, and care into every bowl they make. I actually wish I could get their food delivered to Sydney, Australia. I miss it!!
You are what you eat! Laulima is the place to supplement your gut with all the cheat meals you’ve eaten! Friendly A-star service, amazing fresh and creative ingredients. My husband’s not the healthiest eater but even he is able to eat here! Not to mention they do have some sweets to fulfill one’s sweet tooth! Highly recommend for everyone! Do your body good!
Laulima has such a wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. I love all the fresh ingredients that are available for the yummy bowls and salads. Great, simple, fresh food. Sure, you will pay a bit more than if you went to a big chain that serves a bunch of junk. But if you want good food with local ingredients then it’s worth it. In addition, all to go stuff is compostable. Support a local business that is good your your body and good for the environment!
If you want to eat real food and support an awesome local business this is the spot. We were going to subway but saw Laulima and gave it a try. The food is delicious, and way better than what I woulda got next door at subway, and knowing it’s island grown is the cherry on top.I really hope people go here, the island needs more local spots like this that keep things on the aina instead of outsourcing to corporate America. Even their plates are compostable, these guys are great
Fresh. Tasty. Local.
Great foodPriceyStrange hours of operation
Value is extremely poor. 26$ for a small bowl and lemonade. contents of said bowl were filled mostly with large containers of their sauce. Bulgogi beef was not sliced nor plentiful. Was a really odd meat cake texture. Never had a ground beef cake bulgogi. The shoyu egg hard boiled, not soft. No real prowess of kitchen skill. Very confused on who would return.
