The teriyaki burger was pretty good (need to request a beyond patty to make it vegan). We went for dinner and there was not a lot of vegan options available on the menu. There was a vegan poke but we did not order it. I am not sure if the brunch menu has more options for vegans. Overall, limited options, but the burger was solid and you get a pretty view of the ocean.
They used to have many more vegan menu options. I was disappointed when they removed some of the old offerings, but they added tofu poke to the menu which is now my favorite meal Kona side. It’s super fresh, light, and there’s plenty of fun drinks to pair with it. The ocean views from the lanai are unbeatable, too
Picked this place for dinner because they have a few good vegetarian and vegan options. Our table was right on the water with a great view. We had avocado fries, vegan poke (which is tofu), and pineapple teriyaki burger. you can sub beyond burger in any of their burgers which is nice. The avocado fries were AMAZING, I would definitely buy the sauce that comes on them! Burger was really good too

The restaurant staffs were very welcoming. We sat at the table facing the ocean view.We ordered avocado fries, vegan poke with firecracker shrimp on the side and fish tacos.
The food was served hot and tasted really good. The firecracker shrimp was delicious. The sauce on the shrimp added a great flavor to the dish. It was my favorite. I will recommend this dish to everyone visiting this place.

Went today with my family and I asked for specific table and the greeter told me it is reserved. The whole time we were there, nobody occupied that specific table. Food was okay but server was rude and never came by to check if I needed a coffee refill. And they got nerve to ask for minimum tip (22%). This place is joke. Food is 3/5 and view 4/5. Other than that nothing special about this place. Do Not go there, WILL NOT recommend. Rather go to Lava Java breakfast place instead, same view and better food and service.

Bad bad experience. Will NOT return. Made an error on my dinner so had to wait to make it correct. By the time I got it my husband was done with his dinner. Thought we would be compensated in some way but wasn't. Would have been nice to not charge for my meal or offered dessert but NO. Then our bill was not correct. Charged twice for the burger and something else we didn't order. Talked to the manager and he was rude!!!. Chastised us for seating ourselves even though we checked with the hostess first and told her we wanted to see the sunset then be seated. We sat down at a table then got chastised for seating ourselves. Bad bad experience and will NOT return.
Can't believe we were not compensated in some way. Then we did not like our meal. Felt awful my husband wanted to treat me to a nice meal out then this happens.

Slightly more expensive than other Kona restaurants, but you're paying for the oceanside dining experience. Good food.
Vegetarian options: More at Brunch than Dinner.

Absolutely brutal food. Fries cooked in dirty fryer oil, undercooked, super greasy burger. Nice servers.

Service was good! Our server sat us on a table with a very nice view of the harbor. Food was okay, your typical tropical American restaurant food. Restaurant is big enough to host large parties. My only issue is the parking! They do not validate parking, although there's parking downstairs for $14 an hour.

I recently visited Papa Kona, and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. I tried the Big Island omelette, but it was overly eggy and packed with too much meat, leaving it unappetizing for my taste—I ended up leaving most of it. The pancakes and syrup were also underwhelming, with a watery consistency that lacked flavor. Coffee was overpriced. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I wouldn’t plan to go back.
