Spent our first and last meals on the island at Papa Kona! Such amazing service and food with a great view! Our waitress was Bri both times and she was great!

This is a lovely place with great food. We used to go here multiple times a week during our visits to the big island. They used to have great music, like Tomi Isobe and others. No more.

They do NOT have live music every night, like their website claims. Call if it is important to you, as it is to us. They promise but don't deliver.

Tried to go for brunch—the restaurant had limited coffee and the server walked away before taking all orders at the table. The managers/hostesses forced a member in our party to throw away $20 worth of coffee before entering the restaurant. We left money for the drinks ordered on the table and left. One of the two managers/hostesses at the podium chased us after we left to tell us to pay for our drinks—without checking to see that we left cash on the table (and even left a tip).
They cited that our outside drinks were a health code violation but they currently have feces in their elevator, which they are aware of but have not roped off. The manager/ hostess with red hair was aggressive.

Eating right on the water in Kona. So awesome. Oh and the food was great too!

In February, I went to Papa Kona Restaurant & Bar with my mom and dad, and we had a wonderful dining experience. The oceanfront setting was beautiful, especially with the breeze and views of the water. We enjoyed the island-inspired dishes and fresh flavors, and the service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere felt lively yet relaxed, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal together as a family. Watching the sunset from our table made the experience even more special. 🌅🍹🌺

The restaurant is right on the beach and we enjoyed watching the sunset during our meal. I was disappointed the fish for the tacos wasn’t freshly caught and overall, not very good.

Great food, service and atmosphere! Brie was an amazing hostess with nice recommendations. Tasty avacado fries and omelets. Great way to start our first day on the big island!

We loved this place so much that we came three days in a row during our trip. The food is absolutely delicious, but the real star is their homemade peanut butter cheesecake — it’s unforgettable. If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would.

We also got lucky to have the same server, Bri, each time. She remembered us, knew exactly what I was coming back for (the cheesecake!), and made us feel so welcome. She truly goes above and beyond and absolutely deserves all the tips you can give her!

A must-visit restaurant — don’t leave without trying the cheesecake!

I went there at 4 pm, it was mostly empty on a Wednesday. But the seats give a good view of the ocean and service was quick. Staff was friendly. The avocado fries were really good. Never had them so good.
